Judge that blocked Trump gets house burnt down after 'mysterious' explosion

No.1445151 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://time.com/7323442/south-carolina-judge-diane-goodstein-house-fire-trump-political-violence/

>The home of South Carolina Circuit Court judge Diane Goodstein was set on fire after she had reportedly received death threats.

>State law enforcement is investigating the house fire on Edisto Beach which began at around 11:30 a.m. E.T. on Saturday, sources told local news outlet FITSNews. Goodstein was reportedly not at home at the time of the fire, but at least three members of her family, including her husband, former Democratic state senator Arnold Goodstein, and their son, have been hospitalized with serious injuries.
>According to the St. Paul’s Fire District, which responded to the scene, the occupants had to be rescued via kayak. Law enforcement have not disclosed whether the fire is being investigated as an arson attack.

>“At this time, we do not know whether the fire was accidental or arson. Until that determination is made, [State Law Enforcement Division Chief Mark Keel] has alerted local law enforcement to provide extra patrols and security,” South Caroline Chief Justice John Kittredge told FITSNews, adding that the fire appeared to have been caused by an “explosion.”

>The 69-year-old judge had received death threats in the weeks leading up to the fire, multiple sources told FITSNews. Last month, Goodstein had temporarily blocked the state’s election commission from releasing its voter files to the Department of Justice, a decision that was openly criticized by Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon and later reversed by the state Supreme Court. The DOJ had sought the information, including names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and social security numbers, of over three million registered voters as part of President Donald Trump’s March executive order restricting non-citizens from registering to vote. (Non-citizens are already not allowed to vote in federal and state elections.)

Trump says he will talk to DOJ about Maxwell pardon, says Diddy asked for one

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-says-he-will-talk-doj-about-maxwell-pardon-says-diddy-asked-one-2025-10-06/

WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday left the door open to a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted of helping the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein sexually abuse teenage girls.

Trump also said that Sean "Diddy" Combs, who was sentenced on Friday to more than four years in prison over his conviction on prostitution-related charges, had requested a pardon.

On the same day that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear Maxwell's bid to overturn her conviction, Trump, when asked whether he would set Maxwell free himself through a pardon, said he would speak to the Department of Justice.

"I haven't heard the name in so long. I can say this, that I'd have to take a look at it. I would have to take a look," he said. "I will speak to the DOJ."

Palestinian women are extorted for sex in exchange for aid by NGO workers

https://apnews.com/article/gaza-sexual-exploitation-women-aid-israel-war-44c9daf14f2888d43cd05562b7d24a10

BY SAM MEDNICK AND SALLY ABOU ALJOUD
September 30, 2025

After weeks of scraping by to feed her six children in Gaza, the 38-year-old woman thought she’d found a lifeline.

At a shelter, a friend told her about a man who could help with food, aid, maybe even a job. The woman — separated from her husband, and forced to shutter the business that once kept the family afloat — approached him.

It was about a month into the war in Gaza, she said, and he promised her work, a six-month contract with an aid agency. On the day she believed she’d sign the paperwork, he drove her not to an office but to an empty apartment. He complimented her, she said, and told her to remove her headscarf.

He told her he loved her and wouldn’t force her, she said, but he also wouldn’t let her leave. Eventually, they had a sexual encounter, she said. She declined to give details of the nature of their interaction, saying she felt fear and shame.

“I had to play along because I was scared, I wanted out of this place,” the woman said.

Before she left, she said, he handed her some money — 100 shekels, about $30. Two weeks later, he gave her a box of medicine and a box of food. But for weeks, the job didn’t materialize.

As Gaza’s humanitarian crisis grows, women say they have been exploited by local men — some associated with aid groups — promising food, money, water, supplies or work in exchange for sexual interactions. Six women detailed their experiences to The Associated Press, each speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution from their families or the men and because sexual harassment and assault are considered taboo topics. Sometimes, they said, the men’s solicitation was blatant: “Let me touch you,” one woman recalled being told. Other times, it was culturally coded: “I want to marry you,” or “Let’s go together somewhere.”

Trump Palestinian Peace Plan

No.1443422 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-gaza-plan-israel-palestine-benjamin-netanyahu-10800335

President Donald Trump released a comprehensive plan to end the Israel-Hamas conflict and establish governance for Gaza moving forward. The 20-point plan was revealed Monday afternoon before his news conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu said he agreed to the plan, which was unveiled shortly before the news conference. Trump said Israel has the "full backing" of the United States to take steps to defeat Hamas if it doesn't accept the proposed peace deal.

“Today is a historic day for peace,” Trump said. “Let’s call it eternal peace in the Middle East.”

Netanyahu warned that if Hamas rejects or fails to comply with the plan, “then Israel will finish the job by itself,” adding, “This could be done the easy way, or it could be done the hard way. But it will be done.”

The 20-point plan reads in full:

Gaza will be a deradicalized terror-free zone that does not pose a threat to its neighbors.

Gaza will be redeveloped for the benefit of the people of Gaza, who have suffered more than enough.
If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will immediately end. Israeli forces will withdraw to the agreed upon line to prepare for a hostage release. During this time, all military operations, including aerial and artillery bombardment, will be suspended, and battle lines will remain frozen until conditions are met for the complete staged withdrawal.

Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.

Once all hostages are released, Israel will release 250 life sentence prisoners plus 1700 Gazans who were detained after October 7th, 2023, including all women and children detained in that context. For every Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will release the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.

Elderly man sues ICE for 50 million for breaking his ribs

No.1443061 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
And this admin is wondering why people don't like ICE lol.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A 79-year-old man in Southern California filed a claim against the federal government Thursday for $50 million in damages, saying federal agents violated his civil rights when they tackled him during a Sept. 9 immigration raid at a car wash business.

Rafie Ollah Shouhed, the owner of a car wash in Los Angeles, suffered several broken ribs and chest trauma, elbow injuries, and has symptoms of a traumatic brain injury, according to the claim. Shouhed is a naturalized U.S citizen from Iran.

Video surveillance footage from inside the car wash shows a federal officer running in through a hallway. The agent encounters Shouhed and knocks him to the ground before running past him. In footage from outside the car wash, Shouhed walks toward a federal officer who appears to be detaining one of his employees. Shouhed briefly grapples with a second officer, before a third officer runs in and tackles him to the ground.

The claim was filed against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Customs and Border Protection.

In a statement, a DHS spokesperson said authorities arrested five people from Guatemala and Mexico “who broke our nation’s immigration laws” from the car wash and that Shouhed “impeded the operation and was arrested for assaulting and impeding a federal officer.”

White House freezes funds for Democratic states in shutdown slap

No.1443978 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-government-begins-shut-down-most-operations-after-congress-fails-advance-2025-10-01/

WASHINGTON, Oct 1 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump's administration on Wednesday froze $26 billion for Democratic-leaning states, following through on a threat to use the government shutdown to target Democratic priorities.
The targeted programs included $18 billion for transit projects in New York, home to Congress's top two Democrats, and $8 billion for green-energy projects in 16 Democratic-run states, including California and Illinois. Vice President JD Vance, meanwhile, warned that the administration might extend its purge of federal workers if the shutdown lasts more than a few days.

The moves made clear that Trump would carry out his threat to take advantage of the shutdown to punish his political opponents and extend his control over the $7 trillion federal budget, established by the U.S. Constitution as the domain of Congress.
The government shutdown, the 15th since 1981, suspended scientific research, financial oversight, environmental cleanup efforts and a wide range of other activities.
Some 750,000 federal workers were ordered not to work, while others, such as troops and Border Patrol agents, began to work without pay. The Department of Veterans Affairs said it would provide burials at national cemeteries, but would not erect headstones or mow the grass.
Vance said at a White House briefing that the administration would be forced to resort to layoffs if the shutdown lasts more than a few days, adding to the 300,000 who will be pushed out by December. Previous shutdowns have not resulted in permanent layoffs.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office said it would lay off 1% of its 14,000 employees, according to an internal letter seen by Reuters

Federal Workers’ Union Sues Admistration Over Partisan Email Language

No.1444631 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/02/politics/federal-workers-government-shutdown-emails-partisan

Multiple furloughed workers from the Department of Education had out-of-office messages blaming Democrats for the government shutdown automatically sent from their email accounts without their consent or knowledge, according to four sources familiar with the situation.

The sources, who currently work at the department and spoke with CNN anonymously out of fear of retribution, characterized the move as disturbing and violating as well as one that could potentially impact their professional reputations.

“It is compelled speech and feels like a setup,” one Department of Education employee told CNN, with another worker saying they felt “completely violated and concerned” about the possible ramifications.

The automatic messages come as federal workers at other agencies say they were provided with suggested partisan language to include in their own out-of-office email notices.
