Newsom signs bill banning ICE agents from wearing face coverings

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) signed a new bill into into law on Saturday that bans most federal, local, and out-of-state law enforcement officers from wearing face coverings.

The bill, dubbed the No Secret Police Act, prohibits most law enforcement operating in the state, including U.S. ICE agents, from masking while on the job. It includes a few exemptions, such as for SWAT teams and undercover police work, and still allows officers to wear medical masks and gas masks, if necessary.
Penalties for violating the law include either an infraction or misdemeanor, and apply to officers who committed an “assault, battery, false imprisonment, false arrest, abuse of process, or malicious prosecution” while covering their face, a press release from Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener, who headed the bill, said.

The new piece of legislation was part of a slate of others signed by Newsom this weekend, most of which are designed to clamp down on the Trump administration‘s immigration operations in the state.

Those include one bill requiring officers to provide identification while conducting operations, two others prohibiting ICE agents from entering schools or health facilities without a warrant, and another requiring schools to notify parents and teachers if ICE agents are on site.

Schumer asks trump to stop the radicals in the GOP

No.1443407 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Chuck Schumer met with Trump and Republican leaders and is now asking Trump to reign in the radicals in the GOP so that they align with Trumps more moderate stance on the budget.
https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/5527839-schumer-trump-gop-health-care-funding-bill/
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) said a rift is emerging between President Trump and GOP leaders in Congress about whether to use a short-term government funding bill to prevent health insurance premiums from soaring next year because of the expiration of enhanced subsidies at the end of this year.

“The particular focus was on health care. When we made these arguments it was clear there was a division or possible division between the president and the two Republican leaders,” Schumer said, referring to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).

Schumer met with Trump, Thune, Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) at the White House on Monday afternoon to discuss government funding, which is set to expire at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. Democrats are demanding an extension of the enhanced health insurance subsidies, as well as other health care provisions, in exchange for their votes to keep the government open.

Schumer said the GOP leaders “wanted to kick the health care problem down the road.”

But the Democratic leader said Trump seemed more sympathetic to the suffering of ordinary Americans who will see their premiums rise and may lose access to health care.

“There was a real division because when we talked to the president about the problems in health care and mentioned to him a woman I had met who was crying because she said her daughter was losing her health care, her daughter has cancer. … He was not aware that Americans would pay, so many Americans, tens of millions of Americans, would pay huge increases in their health care bills because of the ACA expiring in December,” Schumer said, referring to Trump.

After Trump rejects West Bank annexation, right-wing MKs urge Netanyahu to do it anyway

No.1442446 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.timesofisrael.com/after-trump-rejects-west-bank-annexation-right-wing-mks-urge-pm-to-do-it-anyway/

Right-wing figures in Israel rejected US President Donald Trump’s declaration Thursday that Israeli annexation of the West Bank is “not going to happen,” and called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take the step anyway.

The premier’s allies, many of whom have long supported annexing the West Bank, have pushed him in recent weeks to declare Israeli sovereignty over parts of the territory as a response to the wave of Western nations announcing their recognition of a Palestinian state.

“The Jewish people’s sovereignty over the Jewish homeland does not depend on any external source. Even one as loving and friendly as can be,” MK Zvi Sukkot, of the far-right Religious Zionism party, wrote on X, without mentioning Trump by name.

“Faced with European countries’ insane recognition of a Palestinian terror state, we must apply sovereignty [over the West Bank] already during this term,” he added.

Likud MK Dan Ilouz said the matter “is solely the decision of the Jewish people.”

Trump promotes "medbeds" on TS

President Trump shares seemingly AI video amplifying 'medbed' conspiracy theory

https://www.ksbw.com/article/medbed-card-trump-post/68096939

SALINAS, Calif. — On Saturday, President Donald Trump shared a seemingly artificial-intelligence-created video which promotes a currently unannounced, and once-conspiracy-theory, medical technology.

In the post on Truth Social, Trump shared a video that looks like it's from Fox News' "My View with Lara Trump" where she announces breaking news that the president has announced a new "healthcare system" with the launch of America's first "MedBed hospitals." In the video, the president is seen announcing the technology from the Oval Office.

MedBeds conspiracies date back to 2022 and are shared among far-right communities online. The beds can theoretically cure all disease and de-age people, and some even claim they can regrow limbs. The conspiracy goes on to explain that the reason the general public doesn't have access to these beds is because of liberal billionaires.

There is no proof that Trump ever made those remarks from the Oval Office or that Lara Trump ever made that announcement on air. Information about MedBeds has not been released on the White House's website or any other official channels other than the president's Truth Social account.

Another shooting, brought to you by The Usual Suspects™

https://www.npr.org/2025/09/28/nx-s1-5555970/multiple-people-shot-mormon-church-michigan-shooter-down

At least four people were killed and eight were injured after a gunman attacked a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints service in Michigan on Sunday morning, police said. The shooter was killed by police.

Authorities say the 40-year-old suspect, Thomas Jacob Sanford, rammed his vehicle through the front doors of the church in Grand Blanc Township, about 60 miles northwest of Detroit, before exiting and opening fire with what they described as an assault rifle on the hundreds of worshippers inside.

Investigators believe the suspect also deliberately set fire to the church, which appeared engulfed in flames in photos and videos shared on social media.

"All indications on this investigation are the suspect used an accelerant of some sort, we believe gasoline, and lit the church on fire," James Deir of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Detroit office said during a Sunday evening press conference. Deir said authorities also found "suspected" explosive devices.

Authorities said during an evening briefing that two additional bodies were recovered at the church, adding to an earlier death toll of two. It is not known if the two latest victims were shot and killed or died in the fire. There are more victims unaccounted for in the burned-out church, according to Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye.

Earlier, Renye praised the two officers who quickly responded to the emergency call in less than a minute and "neutralized" the suspect in the church's parking lot. "We do not believe that there's a threat to the public," he said. "We believe that we have the guy who did this."

One of the hospitalized victims was in critical condition and seven are in stable condition, he said on Sunday afternoon.

Homicide investigation in Cranford NJ: 2 Best Friends on E-bikes killed by Jeep

No.1443818 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
CRANFORD, NJ — A 17-year-old boy from Garwood was arrested and charged with two counts of murder after a crash that killed two 17-year-old girls in Cranford on Monday, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

He is now in police custody.

CBS News New York reported the driver fled the scene but is now in custody. Authorities have not confirmed this to Patch.

Reports say the boy stalked at least one of the Cranford High School students for months, leading her to file a restraining order against him.

A neighbor told Fox 5 that authorities at the school and the police had been notified of the ongoing issue.

"He's been parked outside her house for three months now. He was never stopped," she said.
