Charlie Kirk suspect said he 'had enough of his hatred', prosecutors allege

No.1437839 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckg2r8lvjn2o
The man accused of fatally shooting Charlie Kirk confessed to killing the right-wing activist in a message to his roommate, prosecutors have alleged, as they announced seven charges against him.

Tyler Robinson, 22, left a note under a keyboard for his roommate to discover, said Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Gray. He added that the roommate was Mr Robinson's romantic partner.

According to Mr Gray, the note said: "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I'm going to take it."

Describing the hidden note, Mr Gray said Mr Robinson had sent a text message to his roommate reading: "Drop what you're doing, look under my keyboard."

After reading the apparent confession, the roommate, who has not been named and is co-operating with investigators, replied: "What? You're joking."

Mr Gray cited further text message exchanges between Mr Robinson and his roommate, who he described as "a biological male who was transitioning genders".

In one exchange, the roommate, who has not been named, asked Mr Robinson why he had killed Kirk.

"'I had enough of his hatred,'" Mr Gray cited the messages as saying. "'Some hate can't be negotiated out.'"

Mr Robinson also allegedly wrote: "To be honest I had hoped to keep this secret till I died of old age. I am sorry to involve you."

The roommate replied: "you weren't the one who did it right????"

Mr Robinson replied: "I am, I'm sorry."

The killing of Kirk, an ally of President Donald Trump and popular conservative influencer, sparked outrage with Democrats and Republicans accusing each other of spreading hateful rhetoric.

Convicted: Proud Democrat Ryan Routh

No.1441338 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Proud Democrat Ryan Routh is unanimously convinced by a jury of his peers on all 12 counts of left-wing extremism. During his trial he chose to represent himself, and as expected of a left-wing extremist, his defense was based on comparing trump to Hitler and complaining about Russia invading Ukraine.

Man found guilty of assassination attempt against Trump at Florida golf club

Ryan Routh, the man accused of plotting to kill President Trump as he golfed in south Florida last year, was found guilty Tuesday following a trial where he mounted his own defense.

A jury of 12 Floridians convicted Routh on all five counts he faced in federal court, including attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate, a charge that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

The guilty verdict comes at a moment of renewed national concern about political violence in the wake of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s fatal shooting earlier this month.

Federal prosecutors said Routh spent weeks planning to kill Trump before pushing the muzzle of a rifle through the perimeter of his West Palm Beach golf course last year, near the sixth hole.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Browne urged the jury to use “common sense” in its deliberations during the government’s closing arguments Tuesday, according to The Hill’s sister network NewsNation, contending that the fact Routh ultimately never fired a shot shouldn’t mean he’s let off the hook.

“If the evidence in this case has shown one thing and one thing only it’s that Ryan Wesley Routh wanted Donald Trump dead,” Browne said.

The government questioned 38 witnesses over seven days, while Routh called just three witnesses in three hours, a firearms expert and two character witnesses. He did not take the stand himself.

>Zarutska, 23, a Ukrainian refugee, was stabbed to death Aug. 22 while riding a train home from work in Charlotte. Police identified the suspect as Decarlos Brown Jr., 34, who has an extensive criminal history dating back to 2007.
>A Wikipedia editor tried Sunday to delete the entry about Zarutska’s death, arguing it didn’t meet the site’s "notability" requirements. Those guidelines, written by volunteers, say a subject must receive significant coverage in multiple reputable outlets.
>Wikipedia has long faced accusations of bias in its coverage. Zarutska’s article remained active, though Brown’s name did not appear.

Court says Christian school is un-banned from sports after girls refused to play against boys

No.1440558 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/vermont-christian-school-reinstated-being-120010531.html

A federal appeals court has reinstated a Vermont Christian school in statewide competitions after it was banned by state officials for forfeiting a basketball game against a team with a transgender athlete.

In a Sept. 9 ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit overturned a district court order and granted a preliminary injunction to Mid Vermont Christian School to rejoin the Vermont Principals' Association (VPA) while the case continues. The panel said the school is "likely to succeed" on its Free Exercise claim because the VPA decision demonstrated "hostility toward the school's religious beliefs."

The legal fight began in February 2023, when Mid Vermont’s girls basketball team, the Eagles, forfeited a playoff game against Long Trail School after learning a biological male transgender student was on the opposing roster. At the time, school officials cited safety and fairness concerns for female players competing against biological male athletes.

Three weeks later, the VPA expelled the Christian school from all state-sponsored sports and non-athletic events, including spelling bees, science fairs and debate competitions.

Netanyahu vows punishment for EU, UK, Canada, Australia recognizing Palestinian statehood

No.1440452 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/21/middleeast/netanyahu-palestinian-state-response-latam-intl
Jerusalem — With the backing of the United States, a defiant Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a response to a number of countries recognizing a Palestinian state.

At the weekly government meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said Israel will fight at the UN and other international forums “against the slanderous propaganda aimed at us,” as well as the calls to create a Palestinian state that he said “will endanger our existence and constitute an absurd prize for terrorism.”

He vowed the international community “will hear from us on this matter in the following days,” a possible reference to internal discussions about annexation of the occupied West Bank. Netanyahu has not said publicly what he intends to do, but in a video statement on Sunday evening he said that Israel’s response would come after he meets US President Donald Trump next week.

Without Trump’s backing, Netanyahu has few options for how Israel would respond. But with that backing – which Netanyahu is clearly signaling he has – the Israeli leader feels he can do just about anything, under a blanket of US diplomatic protection.

Kavanaugh assassin behind bars for at least 30 years

Federal prosecutors said Friday they will seek to imprison the person who attempted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh at his home in 2022 for at least 30 years and up to life.

Prosecutors’ sentencing memo came as the defendant’s public defenders newly indicated their client now uses female pronouns and goes by Sophie Roske.

“She has not asked to recaption the case,” the public defenders wrote, noting that Roske’s legal name hadn’t changed.

“Out of respect for Ms. Roske, the balance of this pleading and counsel’s in-court argument will refer to her as Sophie and use female pronouns,” it continued.

Roske will be sentenced Oct. 3 after pleading guilty to a felony charge of attempting to assassinate a Supreme Court justice in April.

Roske admitted to traveling from California to Kavanaugh’s home in the Washington, D.C., suburbs in June 2022. After arriving, Roske abandoned the plans after speaking with 911 and a family member.

Authorities recovered a pistol, crowbar, ammunition, zip ties and other weapons.

Roske wanted to change the conservative justice’s views on major abortion and gun cases, court documents show. Prosecutors say Roske also sent Discord messages days earlier indicating two other justices were targets.

“The defendant sought single-handedly and irrevocably to alter an entire branch of the United States government through violence,” prosecutors wrote in Friday’s filing.

Their sentencing memo urges U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman to follow the sentencing guidelines range of 30 years to life in prison, describing Roske’s crime as an act of terrorism.

Google Admits to Biden Coercing Them

> Those who saw their YouTube videos and other content banned during COVID-19 and the 2020 election were invited back to the platform Tuesday in an astonishing mea culpa from the company that blamed their censorship on Biden administration pressure tactics.

> Alphabet Inc., the company that operates Google and YouTube, wrote in a letter Tuesday to Congress that they were forced into removing content by Mr. Biden and his senior aides.

> “It is unacceptable and wrong when any government, including the Biden administration, attempts to dictate how the company moderates content,” Alphabet’s lawyers wrote to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan. “And the company has consistently fought against those efforts on First Amendment grounds.”

> Company officials acknowledged they had gone too far in banning content related to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 presidential election results.

> Their censorship came mostly in response to senior Biden administration officials who repeatedly pressured them to take down content even though the material did not violate the company’s policies.

> Company officials said Biden administration aides and President Biden “created a political atmosphere that sought to influence the actions of platforms based on their concerns regarding misinformation.”

> Google also admitted to relying on “health authorities” when it initiated policies, kept in place through 2024, that banned certain discussions of COVID-19 policies and various treatments for the virus.
