A private dinner attended by dozens of administration officials and close advisers to President Donald Trump was temporarily marred by a dramatic clash between two of Trump’s top economic officials, with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent at one point threatening to punch top housing finance official Bill Pulte “in the fucking face.”

The Wednesday evening event was supposed to be one of celebration: It was both the much-anticipated inaugural dinner at Executive Branch, the ultra-exclusive Georgetown club created by and for Trump world’s uberrich, and a birthday party for MAGA-friendly podcaster Chamath Palihapitiya.

A long table for the 30-some guests was set with top-of-the-line crystal and china. The guest list included Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Medicare and Medicaid chief Mehmet Oz, plus venture capitalist David Sacks, Palihapitiya’s partner on the “All In” podcast.

But amid the cocktail-hour din, Bessent lashed out at Pulte in an expletive-laden diatribe. The Treasury secretary had heard from several people that the Federal Housing Finance Agency director had been badmouthing him to Trump, a person close to him said. He wasn’t about to engage in chit-chat as if nothing was amiss.

“Why the fuck are you talking to the president about me? Fuck you,” Bessent told Pulte. “I’m gonna punch you in your fucking face.”

Senate Republicans narrowly blocked an unexpected effort on Wednesday by Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the Democratic leader, to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files and put Republican senators on record on an issue that has divided their party.

Trump made his post in response to another user who blamed Cracker Barrel’s CEO Julie Felss Masino, stating she “scrapped a beloved American aesthetic and replaced it with sterile, soulless branding” while also criticizing the company for its diversity, equity and inclusion commitments.

Cracker Barrel shares fell more than 11% on Thursday as of 10 a.m. EDT.

Cracker Barrel defended the new logo in a statement to Forbes as a “call-back to the original,” adding the “heart and soul of Cracker Barrel haven’t changed” and that Uncle Herschel, the man on the previous logo, “remains front and center in our restaurants and on our menu.”

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A Walker man has been ordered to be physically castrated after pleading guilty to sex crimes against a juvenile, prosecutors said.

According to 21st Judicial District Attorney Scott Perrilloux’s office, Marc Rager Sr., 67, was sentenced on Wednesday, September 3, to 99 years in prison along with the order to be physically castrated.

Rager pleaded guilty to 120 combined counts of aggravated crimes against nature, second-degree rape, and felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

The Walker Police Department began investigating Rager in July of 2024, prosecutors said. They added that DNA, video, and recorded statements showed that he had been sexually abusing the juvenile for nearly two years.

Assistant District Attorney Greg Stahlnecker Jr. prosecuted the case for the state.

“This plea was taken after consideration for the victim,” Stahlnecker said. “She will never be able to get back what Mr. Rager took from her; however, with this plea, she can begin the road to recovery without having to go through a trial and relive the nearly two years of abuse that she suffered from the defendant.”

A Russian judge was shot dead, stabbed multiple times and had his severed genitals stuffed in his mouth after being accused of having an affair.

Judge Vasily Vetlugin, 40, had only just walked out of a courthouse in Kamyshin, Volgograd region when he was gunned down and had a knife plunged into his eye. The judge was allegedly attacked by his secretary’s husband who suspected an affair, according to police sources.

Sergey Kibalnikov, 47, a transport business owner, was detained at the scene of the killing and is being questioned by Russian police. He is under investigation for “murder with particular cruelty” in Kamyshin, Volgograd region, documents show.

Police are investigating whether the gruesome murder was motivated by “jealousy”. Yelena Kibalnikova, 40, had been working as Judge Vetlugin's secretary and sources allege that Kibalnikov suspected the pair of having an affair.

According to witnesses, the judge was shot with a Saiga semi-automatic hunting rifle. An eyewitness said: “The judge came out of the courthouse, got into his car, started to drive off.

“The man blocked his way and began shooting at the car. The judge ran out and headed towards the lawyers [office], but the man gunned him down, cut off his penis, shoved it into his mouth, and stabbed him repeatedly, finally sticking the knife into his [eye].
