A Tennessee man is accused of raping a woman as she drifted in and out of consciousness by the front steps of a Nashville church — shortly before she died.

Mohamed Mohamed, 39, is charged with four counts of rape in relation to an alleged assault on an unconscious woman in front of the house of worship on Nolensville Pike in Nashville’s Woodbine neighborhood Thursday evening, according to a press release from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Authorities say a Fire Department crew was traveling down Nolensville Pike just after 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 14, when they spotted an alleged sexual assault taking place. The fire crew alleged that Mohamed was attempting to pull the woman’s pants up as they pulled over.

The woman, who remains a Jane Doe, was seen on surveillance video apparently under the influence, walking unsteadily and setting herself down on the steps. Police say Mohamed then approached her, sat down beside her and began touching her as she drifted in and out of consciousness, attempting to swat him away to no avail.

Mohamed then allegedly lifted her off the steps, set her on the ground and “repeatedly sexually assaulted her,” police wrote in the press release.

The woman was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she died soon after arriving….

President Donald Trump promised on the campaign trail that his trade policies would trigger an “exodus” of manufacturing from China back to the U.S. But so far, many American companies that operate there are staying put.

That’s the least risky option, half a dozen business leaders and business groups said in interviews, pointing to Trump’s blanket tariff increases — on not just Beijing but most of the world’s other manufacturing powerhouses — and uncertainty about the president’s future trade moves.

It’s echoed in a survey by the U.S.-China Business Council, released in July. The group found that while the number of companies reconsidering their investment strategy has ticked up, roughly two-thirds of U.S. companies operating in China intend to maintain their planned investments in the country.

“Simply put, we’re trapped,” said Judd King, the founder of Starlux Games, a Los Angeles-based company that specializes in glow-in-the-dark outdoor games, which require LED components that are manufactured in China. “There’s no ‘wait and see’ anymore. It’s just we have to pay [the duties]. So that’s one part of the trap. Another part is, how much is the consumer willing to tolerate pricing increases.”

A federal appeals court on Monday rejected President Donald Trump's appeal of writer E. Jean Carroll's defamation verdict against the president, leaving him on the hook for the $83 million judgment.

"[W]e conclude that Trump has failed to identify any grounds that would warrant reconsidering our prior holding on presidential immunity. We also conclude that the district court did not err in any of the challenged rulings and that the jury’s damages awards are fair and reasonable," the ruling by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said.

"The record in this case supports the district court’s determination that the ‘the degree of reprehensibility’ of Mr. Trump’s conduct was remarkably high, perhaps unprecedented,” the three-judge panel found, referring to the punitive damages award against the president.

Trump's attorneys had argued the verdict needed to be tossed because it "severely damages the presidency and is a great miscarriage of justice."

Carroll's lawyer had told the appeals court it should stand because "the president is not above the law."

The body of a South Korean man has been discovered in an alleged Cambodian scam compound, wrapped in blankets and plastic bags, his face swollen and bruised, indicating he may have been beaten to death.

Cambodian police said the body was found Thursday in Kampot province, inside a large dumpster alongside another victim. South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed one of the dead as a Korean national surnamed Park.

The ministry said it immediately requested a full investigation from Cambodian authorities and is providing consular support to Park’s family, although officials noted that "confirming further details has been difficult."

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung ordered “all-out efforts” to respond to the arrests of hundreds of its citizens in an immigration raid on a Hyundai facility in Georgia, as the key American ally and trading partner reeled from the news.

Federal and immigration agents arrested 475 people — mostly South Korean nationals — while executing a judicial search warrant as part of a criminal investigation into alleged unlawful employment at the facility.

At an emergency government meeting Saturday, South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho Hyun said he was “deeply concerned” and felt “heavy responsibilities for the arrests of our citizens.”

His foreign ministry told NBC News that the government had set up a response team and that he was prepared to travel to Washington to meet officials if needed, while Cho reiterated earlier remarks made by Lee that the rights of South Koreans “must be not unjustly infringed.”

“I think he thought that we were targeting him, and we weren’t,” she said. “I don’t believe there’s any evidence that he abused any of the survivors. So, it wasn’t a target against him. It was just, you know, a cry for us being fed up and wanting answers.”

Epstein survivor on Trump calling files controversy ‘Democrat hoax’: ‘Shocking and upsetting’

Lisa Phillips, an accuser of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, said it was “shocking and upsetting” for her to hear President Trump call their Capitol Hill push for transparency a “hoax” perpetrated by Democrats.

“For me, personally, it was shocking and upsetting. I just — I couldn’t believe that he said that,” Phillips said on CNN’s “AC360” when asked for her reaction to Trump’s comments.

The former model noted Trump has long supported the effort to release documents related to Epstein, so his response “confused” her.

“Just for so many years, he acknowledged that there were thousands of files, and he was going to release them,” she told CNN. “And so, hearing that today, I was just confused by it.”

Victims of Epstein gathered outside the Capitol on Wednesday in a press conference, where they offered testimony about their experiences, hammered the government for keeping the files under wraps and accused lawmakers who opposed the release of documents of shielding a group of rich and powerful people from accountability.

Phillips also described being taken to Epstein’s private island in 2000.

“We are not asking for pity. We are here demanding accountability, and I’m demanding justice,” Phillips told the crowd. “Congress must choose: Will you continue to protect predators, or will you finally protect survivors?”

She also suggested the accusers could compile a list of clients after the Trump administration determined Epstein did not keep one.
