BIG Balls assault

Big Balls was assaulted in DC. Not because of DOGE or anything, but because the black teens living in the progressive hell hole of DC enjoy the carjacking people to pass the time

Aformer employee at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) nicknamed "Big Balls" was assaulted in Washington D.C. at the weekend, police said.

Edward Coristine was attacked in the city's Logan Circle neighborhood by a group of teenagers attempting to carjack him and a woman at around 3 a.m. on Sunday, according to The Associated Press and Politico. The woman was identified by police as Coristine's significant other.

Two 15-year-olds were arrested as they attempted to flee the scene.

The attack prompted President Donald Trump to renew calls for the federal government to seize control of the nation's capital.

Newsweek contacted the White House and Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser's office for comment via email outside of regular business hours.

Why It Matters
Trump's remarks come as his administration weighs how far it can go to exert control over cities struggling with crime, homelessness and political infighting.

The prospect of federal intervention in D.C., which has operated under limited home rule since 1973, would mark a dramatic departure from decades of precedent. Under the Home Rule Act, the District maintains its own local government, but Congress retains ultimate authority and can overrule local laws.

What To Know
The group of teenagers approached the couple's car and made a comment about taking the vehicle, the Metropolitan Police Department said.

Coristine pushed the woman into the vehicle for safety and turned to confront the group. Several of the teenagers then attacked him until officers patrolling nearby intervened, police said.

The teenagers fled on foot. Two 15-year-olds from Maryland were later arrested on charges of unarmed carjacking.

Donald Trump’s policies are more than dumb

https://theconversation.com/donald-trumps-policies-are-more-than-dumb-theyre-stupid-according-to-stupidity-researchers-253009

Before he stepped down as Canadian prime minister, Justin Trudeau called Donald Trump’s tariff policies “very dumb.” This might be an accurate description of many Trump administration policies — but the more objectively correct word is “stupid.”

In fact, Québec’s largest newspaper, Le Journal de Montréal, published a front-page photo of Trump in early February with the word “stupid” in 350-point type. Some may call this an opinion, but the science of stupidity tells us that it’s more of a definition.

Recent research has produced a succinct label for the poorly calculated actions of decision-makers: stupidity.

This is not simple name-calling, but a phenomenon that comprises loss and features a set of actions that are either outright recognizably dysfunctional, or appear so at odds with any sensible course of action that it seems a hidden agenda could be involved.
Stupidity that causes everyone to lose

According to the seminal and transactional view of human stupidity by Carlo Cipolla, the late Italian economic historian, interactions fall into four categories:

Intelligent interactions that are beneficial to all – a positive-sum game like Scottish philosopher Adam Smith’s notion of wealth through specialization and trade;

Helpless interactions that result in a loss in a zero-sum game;

Bandit interactions that result in a gain in zero-sum game;

Stupid interactions that cause all parties to suffer a loss.

MeidasTouch dethrones Joe Rogan Experience as the top podcast in the US

No.1424277 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Joe Rogan has been dethroned as America’s number one podcaster on YouTube by a staunchly anti-MAGA, “pro-democracy” show. After months of sharply criticizing President Donald Trump’s actions, decisions and rhetoric, the left-leaning MeidasTouch Podcast overtook the Joe Rogan Experience for the first time last week, according to YouTube’s weekly ranking of top podcast shows.

While Rogan’s 20.1 million YouTube followers dwarf MeidasTouch’s 5.2 million, the podcasting giant’s show finished in second place. Progressive YouTuber Brian Tyler Cohen and conservative-leaning Sean Ryan’s shows also made the top ten. The MeidasTouch Podcast saw its rankings climb in July as Trump attempted to appease Congress, the media, and voters over his administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, with episodes zeroing in on the president’s past ties to and comments about the disgraced financier. According to a May New York Times report, with the rise of video podcasting, YouTube is now the most popular platform for listeners with a one-third market share.

“We’re thrilled to see our audience continue to grow,” MeidasTouch Network co-founder Ben Meislas said in a statement Wednesday. “It's not just about the numbers. It's about building a movement powered by truth, accountability, and the people.” On Spotify, however, Rogan remains king, taking the number one spot, while MeidasTouch secured the 73rd spot on the audio streaming company’s U.S. podcast charts. A similar trend appeared on Apple Podcasts’ U.S. charts, where the Joe Rogan Experience ranks second, bested only by ABC News’ Cold Blooded: Mystery in Alaska, and the MeidasTouch Podcast comes in 17th. According to data analyzed by Newsweek using podcast analytics platform Podscribe, the MeidasTouch Podcast was the most downloaded podcast overall between June 7 and July 7.

Bolsonaro Under House Arrest

No.1424735 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
A New Chapter in Brazil’s (corrupted) Political Saga

Recent developments in Brazil’s political landscape have drawn global attention, as former President Jair Bolsonaro was placed under house arrest by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. This decision followed allegations that Bolsonaro had violated previous court-imposed restrictions, particularly around his use of social media and indirect participation in political demonstrations.

The Social Media Factor

Bolsonaro was seen engaging via video calls with supporters during protests, while allies and family members shared his image online. These actions were interpreted as attempts to influence the judiciary and possibly obstruct justice.

The Supreme Court's Ruling

Justice Moraes responded with several measures:

- House arrest with electronic ankle monitor
- Confiscation of mobile devices and electronics
- Ban on visits, except for close family and lawyers
- Continuous surveillance by authorities

Bolsonaro’s legal team denies any wrongdoing and has stated they will appeal the decision.

International Ripples 'N

The political fallout hasn’t stopped at Brazil’s borders. Bolsonaro's son, Eduardo Bolsonaro, has been active in the United States, connecting with conservative figures and criticizing Brazil’s Supreme Court. These moves have sparked concerns over potential diplomatic strain between Brazil and the U.S., especially in trade and cooperation spheres.

St. Louis halts new minority- and women-owned construction contracts

Starting Monday, the City of St. Louis will stop issuing new city construction contracts under its Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprise (M/WBE) goals, due to new federal guidance that threatens to withhold or eliminate funding for cities that maintain such programs, according to the mayor’s office.

Mayor Cara Spencer wrote a public letter to city residents, workers and businesses on Friday, noting that the pause is a precautionary step while the City works to revise its contracting policies to comply with shifting federal requirements.

Spencer says the changes are necessary to avoid losing access to critical federal disaster recovery funds, including funds tied to the May 16 tornado recovery efforts.

Planned ambush at Texas ICE facility leaves officer shot, as 10 charged with attempted murder, authorities say
Alvarado police officer shot while responding to suspicious person call near Prairieland Detention Facility

The shooting of a Texas police officer near a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility and the firing of shots at federal officers over the weekend was a "planned ambush" on the building, resulting in 11 people being charged, authorities said Monday.

An Alvarado, Texas, police officer was shot Friday night near the Prairieland Detention Facility, authorities said.

"This was an egregious attack on federal and local law enforcement officers and it is part of an increasing trend of violence against them," said Nancy Larson, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

Bad news for Trump

No.1424417 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
More bad news on the economy. Turns out the BLS was cooking numbers the entire time during Biden's presidency. You thought it was bad they revised Trump's numbers down by 50k? They just revised down March 2024-march 2025 by nearly 1 million.
That means they over reported bidens employment gains by nearly a million leading up the the election.
This is the largest correction ever since the BLS started tracking these numbers

Donald Trump Gets Even More Bad News on US Economy

Analysts expect U.S. jobs figures to face further revisions this year, after downward adjustments to recent data angered President Donald Trump and led him to the fire the country's top employment statistician.

Analysts expect U.S. jobs figures to face further revisions this year, after downward adjustments to recent data angered President Donald Trump and led him to the fire the country's top employment statistician.

According to a note released by Goldman Sachs over the weekend, preliminary revision estimates set to be published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in September will reveal a 550,000-950,000 downward revision for the 12-month period through March 2025.

Although the period subject to such change overlaps with more of Joe Biden's presidency than Trump's second term, these substantial revisions will be viewed against the backdrop of the White House's recent criticism of the agency.

Following a weak jobs reading on Friday, and substantial revisions to earlier data, the president accused the BLS commissioner, Erika McEntarfer, of rigging data to reflect poorly on his administration and fired her from her post.

This move has been roundly criticized by officials and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle, who believe it will undermine the credibility and independence of the BLS, but the White House has pointed to other significant revisions as evidence of persistent inaccurate data-gathering by the agency.

Trump goes after states for letting boys play girls sports

No.1423208 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
In case anybody missed the last thread, the leftists of /news/ conceded that biological males cannot transform into biological females (their only argument was demanding that we disprove evidence that doesn't even exist).
They also conceded that there are not nearly as many examples of a woman failing at women's sports and then succeeding at men's sports as there are the examples of the reverse (their only argument was that we couldn't prove these examples *don't* exist)

So since leftists already admitted that transwomen are men, and that transwomen have a biological advantage in sports, there is no need for anybody to waste time debating those issues ITT. Any comment to the contrary should be ignored as it is an obvious troll.

The ED’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) opened an investigation into the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) after it received a complaint from the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) that males were competing in women’s sports, specifically at the high school level.

Republicans slam Trump’s firing of Bureau of Labor Statistics chief

No.1424008 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/02/republicans-trump-bureau-of-labor-statistics-commissioner

Senior Republican lawmakers are condemning the decision of their party leader, Donald Trump, to fire the leading US labor market statistician after a report that showed the national economy added just 73,000 jobs – far fewer than expected – in July.

The disappointing figures – coupled with a downward revision of the two previous months amounting to 258,000 fewer jobs and data showing that economic output and consumer spending slowed in the first half of the year – point to an overall economic deterioration in the US.

Trump defended his decision to fire US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) commissioner Erika McEntarfer. Without evidence to back his claims, the president wrote on social media that were numbers were “RIGGED in order to make the Republicans, and ME, look bad” and the US economy was, in fact, “BOOMING” on his watch.

But the firing of McEntarfer, who had been confirmed to her role in January 2024 during Joe Biden’s presidency, has alarmed members of Trump’s own party.

“If the president is firing the statistician because he doesn’t like the numbers but they are accurate, then that’s a problem,” said Wyoming Republican senator Cynthia Lummis. “It’s not the statistician’s fault if the numbers are accurate and that they’re not what the president had hoped for.”

Lummis added that if the numbers are unreliable, the public should be told – but firing McEntarfer was “kind of impetuous”.

North Carolina senator Thom Tillis, a Republican, said: “If she was just fired because the president or whoever decided to fire the director just … because they didn’t like the numbers, they ought to grow up.”

Kentucky senator Rand Paul, another Republican, questioned whether McEntarfer’s firing was an effective way of improving the numbers.
