Republicans move to block release of Epstein files that don’t exist

The matter made its way into the political discourse as the House Rules Committee considered the issue, after a failed attempt by the Democrats to force a vote in Congress on whether the Epstein files should be made public.

As one of the oldest standing committees in Congress, the group's key role concerns the flow of legislation to the House floor.

Khanna's amendment was in effect a procedural measure that was tacked on to the GENIUS Act, which relates to digital assets such as crypto currency. If the amendment had been passed, it would have forced Attorney General Pam Bondi to publish the Epstein documents on a "publicly accessible website."

The controversy reignited after the Justice Department's recent memo concluded there was no evidence of a client list or blackmail materials, contradicting earlier statements.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk previously claimed in a now-deleted social media post that Trump's name appeared in the Epstein files, and he called on Trump to release the files "as promised."

Republican lawmakers have blocked a move that could have forced President Donald Trump's administration to release the files on the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's death and investigation.

All but one of the GOP members of the House Rules Committee voted against a Democrat amendment that would have allowed Congress to vote on whether the files should be made public or not.

Republicans have weaponized pedophelia for years calling everyone who challenges their power grab child traffickers. Now they protect child molestors when it comes down to it.

‘A family of traitors’: Trump’s Brazil tariffs ultimatum backfires on Bolsonaro

US president’s attempt to help his rightwing ally avoid jail has sparked wave of anger and given boost to rival Lula

Silvana Marques was one of thousands of Brazilians who flocked to São Paulo’s most famous art museum one afternoon last week. But the 51-year-old teacher wasn’t there to marvel over fog-filled London landscapes at Masp’s new Monet retrospective. She had come to join a protest heaping scorn on Donald Trump.

Beneath the museum’s brutalist hulk, Marques spotted a cardboard effigy of the US president and took a picture with her phone before the Trump dummy was set on fire. “Laranjão safado,” which translates as big orange dirtbag, she wrote under her photo on Instagram. Nearby, demonstrators hoisted a red banner into the air which read: “Nice try Trump. But we’re not afraid.”

The rally was a response to Trump’s decision last week to launch a politically motivated trade war against South America’s biggest economy in an attempt to help his rightwing ally, the former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro, avoid jail.

Bolsonaro could face up to 43 years in prison if found guilty of masterminding a botched coup attempt after losing the 2022 presidential election. He is expected to be convicted and sentenced by the supreme court in the coming weeks.

On 9 July, Trump wrote to Brazil’s leftwing president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to demand that the charges against Bolsonaro be dropped and announce he would impose 50% tariffs on Brazilian imports until they were. “[This] is a Witch Hunt that should end IMMEDIATELY!” thundered Trump, long Bolsonaro’s most important international backer.

Trump says the Epstein files are a RADICAL LEFT HOAX and if you disagree you're not his friend!

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/07/12/trump-maga-bondi-doj-epstein-files/84856668007/
President Donald Trump threw his full support behind Attorney General Pam Bondi in a furious social media post that lit into his "so-called 'friends'" in MAGA and told them to move on from fevered demands that she release files related to disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

"They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration, THE TALK OF THE WORLD, and 'selfish people' are trying to hurt it, all over a guy who never dies, Jeffrey Epstein," Trump wrote on July 12 in a lengthy post on Truth Social.

Trump loyalists have been steadily berating Bondi since the Justice Department and FBI said that a "systematic review" of documents related to Epstein "revealed no incriminating 'client list.'" The statement led to allegations from far-right personalities, including Tucker Carlson, that the Trump administration was engaged in a cover-up.

Bondi said earlier this year in an interview on Fox News after she was asked about Epstein's client list that it was "sitting on my desk right now to review." She promised at another point that "everything's going to come out to the public."

Defending her stance at a July 8 Cabinet meeting at the White House, Bondi told reporters: "I was asked a question about the client list and my response was, 'It's sitting on my desk to be reviewed,' meaning the file, not the client list."

Trump took another tack. In his statement on social media this weekend, he alleged that the government documents could have been written by political opponents and critics such as former President Barack Obama and former FBI Director James Comey, whom he fired during his first term.

An employee of the US State Departments foreign propaganda organization, VoA, has been arrested for hatching an assassination plot during Biden's term and repeatedly using telephones in VoA control centers to terrorize her and her family from 2023 up through when Trump was sworn in.

Former VOA employee indicted for allegedly threatening to kill Greene

A former Voice of America (VOA) employee was indicted by a grand jury over allegations that he threatened to kill Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) along with her family members.

The four-count indictment, which was unsealed Thursday, charges Seth Jason, of Edgewater, Md., with influencing a federal official by threatening a family member; anonymous telecommunications harassment; influencing a federal official by threat; and interstate communications with a threat to injure or kidnap.

According to the indictment, Jason allegedly issued repeated threats from late January 2024 through early January of this year against Greene’s family members. From around Oct. 11, 2023, through late January 2025, Jason allegedly threatened to assault and kill Greene, the indictment showed.

Jason, a former VOA worker, was arrested by U.S. Capitol Police and the Anne Arundel, Md., Police Department early Thursday morning.

Capitol Police’s probe found that calls were placed from “various” phone lines linked to studios and control rooms at VOA headquarters in Washington, D.C., according to the U.S. attorney’s office of the District of Columbia.

Jason threatened to use firearms to kill Greene, her staff and their families in eight calls made over fifteen months, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

Trump lashes out at ‘weaklings’ who believe Epstein ‘bullshit’ amid growing GOP pressure

No.1420589 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/16/politics/trump-epstein-weaklings-supporters

President Donald Trump is accusing some of his onetime supporters of being “weaklings” who are falling prey to Democratic “bullshit” about the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — concluding that he no longer wants their support.

The message was the clearest sign yet of the cracks emerging in the president’s coalition, many of whom are loudly demanding more information about the disgraced financier, who has been subject to myriad conspiracies since his death by suicide in 2019. And some of his allies don’t appear to be listening, with Republicans in Congress taking steps Wednesday morning to potentially force the Justice Department to release more documents.

Declaring that Democrats had struck “pay dirt” in the Epstein scandal, Trump said his political opponents were using the issue to attack him.

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker,” Trump wrote in a missive on Truth Social. “They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years.”

Trump allies are reportedly getting a jump on their 2026 election-meddling

Donald Trump and his administration haven’t hidden their desire to use the power of the executive branch to manipulate the system to favor Republicans in next year’s midterm elections.

The president recently called for Texas to gerrymander its voting districts to net Republicans an additional five GOP-friendly districts ahead of next year’s elections, and a new report from The Washington Post shines a light on other actions Trump officials and allies have taken recently that could threaten free and fair political races in 2026 and beyond.

As the Post reports:

> The Trump administration and its allies have launched a multipronged effort to gather data on voters and inspect voting equipment, sparking concern among local and state election officials about federal interference ahead of the 2026 midterms.

The Post reports one of these “unusual” efforts has been led by a pro-Trump consultant named Jeff Small, a former chief of staff to Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., who has claimed to be working with the White House as he’s reached out to county election officials to ask whether they would let the feds physically examine their election equipment. Multiple Republican clerks in Colorado have expressed outrage at Small’s request and said it would be improper. (Small did not immediately respond to MSNBC’s request for comment on his reported work on behalf of the Trump administration.)
