US strikes only set back Iran’s nuclear program by months, report says

No.1415800 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Very embarrassing.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. intelligence report suggests that Iran’s nuclear program has been set back only a few months after U.S. strikes and was not “completely and fully obliterated” as President Donald Trump has said, according to two people familiar with the early assessment.

The report issued by the Defense Intelligence Agency on Monday contradicts statements from Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the status of Iran’s nuclear facilities. According to the people, the report found that while the Sunday strikes at the Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear sites did significant damage, the facilities were not totally destroyed. The people were not authorized to address the matter publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. has held out hope of restarting negotiations with Iran to convince it to give up its nuclear program entirely, but some experts fear that the U.S. strikes — and the potential of Iran retaining some of its capabilities — could push Tehran toward developing a functioning weapon.

The assessment also suggests that at least some of Iran’s highly enriched uranium, necessary for creating a nuclear weapon, was moved out of multiple sites before the U.S. strikes and survived, and it found that Iran’s centrifuges, which are required to further enrich uranium to weapons-grade levels, are largely intact, according to the people.

At the deeply buried Fordo uranium enrichment plant, where U.S. B-2 stealth bombers dropped several 30,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, the entrance collapsed and infrastructure was damaged, but the underground infrastructure was not destroyed, the assessment found. The people said that intelligence officials had warned of such an outcome in previous assessments ahead of the strike on Fordo.

Gay New Yorkers DEFY Trump's anti-free speech ban on trans flags at Stonewall monument

No.1415801 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.thepinknews.com/2025/06/23/stonewall-national-monument-trans-flags-pride/
Visitors are placing trans flags at the Stonewall National Monument in New York, in an act of defiance after the Trump administration said only the traditional six-striped rainbow flag could be flown for Pride month.

The site, which commemorates the historic 1969 riot outside the Stonewall Inn, led by trans women of colour in the early days of the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, was officially awarded national monument status in 2016 by president Barack Obama.

It has become tradition for Christopher Park, which is part of the monument and located in front of the bar, to be adorned with all types of Pride flags. This year, however, installation creator Steven Love Menendez was told by the National Park Service, which oversees the monument, to use only the rainbow flag.

It comes after the Trump administration wiped all references to trans and non-binary people from the monument website in February, part of a wider push seemingly to purge all LGBTQ+ resources and diversity, equity and inclusion content from government web pages. Advocacy group GLAAD condemned the move, branding it another example of Trump’s “blatant attempts to discriminate against, and erase the legacies of, transgender and queer Americans”.

Speaking to CBS about the park service’s diktat, Menendez said: “It’s a terrible action to take. I used to be listed as an LGBTQ activist, and now it says, ‘Steven Menendez, LGB activist’. They took out the Q and the T.”

Menendez told Gothamist the decision had left him sad but it was “not a surprise with all of the rhetoric that’s been going on”.

One of the people to bring a banned flag, Jay Edinin, from the New York borough of Queens, said: “I’m not going to stand by and watch us be erased from our own history, from our own communities, and from the visibility that we desperately need right now.”

RFK Jr. Wants Every American to Be Sporting a Wearable Within Four Years

https://gizmodo.com/rfk-jr-wants-every-american-to-be-sporting-a-wearable-within-four-years-2000619672

The road to “make America healthy again” will apparently be paved with Apple Watches. Health and Human Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has just unveiled a campaign that will try to encourage the widespread use of wearables.

RFK Jr. announced the initiative Tuesday afternoon during a House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee meeting to discuss the HHS’ budget request for the upcoming fiscal year. In response to a question from representative Troy Balderson (R-Ohio) about wearables, Kennedy revealed that HHS will soon conduct one of the agency’s largest ever advertising campaigns to promote their use. He added that in his ideal future, every American will be donning a wearable within the next four years.

“It’s a key part of our mission to Make America Healthy Again,” RFK Jr. stated in an X post following the question.

Some medical experts are excited about the potential for wearables to become an early warning system, alerting users to their personalized risk of many health conditions (even viral infections) well before showing signs of illness. Wearables are also regularly used by people with chronic health conditions for various indications, such as people with diabetes who have continuous glucose monitors (CGM) that measure their blood sugar in real time.

US Intel: Trump Failed, Iran Still Able to Quickly Make Nuke

No.1415707 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/24/us/politics/iran-nuclear-sites.html

A preliminary classified U.S. report says the American bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran set back the country’s nuclear program by only a few months, according to officials familiar with the findings.

The strikes sealed off the entrances to two of the facilities but did not collapse their underground buildings, the officials said the early findings concluded.

Before the attack, U.S. intelligence agencies had said that if Iran tried to rush to making a bomb, it would take about three months. After the U.S. bombing run and days of attacks by the Israeli Air Force, the report by the Defense Intelligence Agency estimated that the program had been delayed, but by less than six months.

The report also said that much of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium was moved before the strikes, which destroyed little of the nuclear material. Iran may have moved some of that to secret locations.

Some Israeli officials said they also believed that the Iranian government had maintained small covert enrichment facilities so it could continue its nuclear program in the event of an attack on the larger facilities.

Other officials noted that the report found that the three nuclear sites — Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan — had suffered moderate to severe damage, with the facility at Natanz damaged the most. It is not clear whether the Iranians will try to rebuild the programs.

Former officials said that if Iran tried to quickly develop a bomb, it would be a relatively small and crude device. A miniaturized warhead would be far more difficult to produce, and the extent of damage to that more advanced research is not clear.

Current and former military officials had cautioned before the strike that any effort to destroy the Fordo facility, which is buried more than 250 feet under a mountain, would probably require waves of airstrikes, with days or even weeks of pounding the same spots.

Pro-life Republican ‘nearly died’ during ectopic pregnancy amid abortion ban

A Republican representative who says she almost died due to her state’s abortion ban has said ‘fearmongering’ caused delayed treatment.

Representative Kat Cammack, 37, almost died last year due to an ectopic pregnancy, and said staff at the hospital were nervous to treat her for fear of criminal prosecution.

Cammack went to the hospital on May 31 last year, where it was found she had a cornual ectopic pregnancy, meaning her embryo had implanted where the fallopian tube meets the uterus.

The doctor told Cammack: ‘If this ruptures, it will kill you,’ but she decided against surgery.

The situation was complicated by the fact that Florida’s six-week abortion ban had come into effect on May 1 last year, meaning medical staff were hesitant to give her a shot of methotrexate, which was needed to end her pregnancy and save Cammack’s life.

Even though Cammack was only five weeks along, fear of prosecution from authorities against the medics was so palpable that she had to argue her case for treatment.

After finally receiving treatment, Cammack has slammed her experience, but blamed abortion rights advocates, who she claims made the hospital afraid of giving her drugs, even when it was legal to do so.

Florida’s abortion ban punishes those who violate it with five years in prison, loss of medical licenses and fines of up to $5,000.

Even though the ban did not specify prosecution for treating ectopic pregnancies, the threat of legal action against medical staff has scared many in the health field.

Cammack, who is now pregnant again, said: ‘It was absolute fearmongering at its worst.

‘There will be some comments like, ‘Well, thank God we have abortion services,’ even though what I went through wasn’t an abortion,’ she added.

Bodybuilder Beaten To Death With Hammer

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/colombian-she-hulk-beaten-to-death-with-hammer-husband-found-dead-with-self-inflicted-wounds-8725817

43-year-old Colombian bodybuilder known as "She Hulk" was found beaten to death with a hammer, and her husband was also discovered dead with self-inflicted knife wounds. According to the New York Post, Zunilda Hoyos Mendez and her husband, Jarrod Gelling, 46, were found dead in their rental home in the Spanish town of Fuengirola on Thursday after a friend filed a missing person report saying that they had not seen the 43-year-old, who also went by Amy, in five days.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found Ms Mendez with injuries indicating she had been killed with a hammer, while her American husband was discovered with what police have described as "apparent self-inflicted stab wounds," per the Post.

"Her body showed obvious signs of violence and that of the man's signs indicating a suicide-type death which is something an autopsy will have to confirm," Spanish National Police said.

According to Ms Mendez's family, the two were suffering marriage problems. The 43-year-old reportedly told relatives that her husband was being aggressive toward her over the past year, and the two intended to divorce following their trip, which would have ended with a bodybuilding competition in Portugal in a couple of weeks. "She was being abused and wanted a divorce," her family said.

The couple had travelled to southern Spain from Dubai. Ms Mendez's niece, Yuleydis, said that her aunt was going to help Gelling following a knee operation before travelling to Portugal. "For my aunt, it was her last trip with him - a farewell. She had taken the decision to divorce him, because of his aggressive behaviour," said Yuleydis.

"They had broken up already once and were apart for quite a while but then got back together again to try to resolve things, although the mistreatment continued," she added.

Iran launches missiles at US base in Qatar in response to strikes

Iran has launched missiles at a US airbase in Qatar in response to strikes on its nuclear sites on Saturday

Qatar confirms the attack on the US-run Al Udeid base, calling it a "flagrant violation" and says it reserves the right to respond directly

It adds all the missiles were intercepted, while the Pentagon says there are no reports of US casualties

In Washington, Donald Trump and defence officials are holding a Situation Room meeting, two days after the US launched massive strikes against three nuclear facilities inside Iran

This was clearly a calculated and choreographed response by Iran and the ball is now in President Trump's court, Frank Gardner writes

It comes as Israel it has been targeting Tehran with "unprecedented force", including attacks on "access routes" to the Fordo nuclear site and Evin prison
