Venezuela requests military aid from Russia to counter America

No.1454221 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2025/10/31/venezuelas-maduro-seeks-russian-military-support-amid-us-buildup-in-caribbean-washington-post-a91016
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin for military assistance as the U.S. concentrates forces in the Caribbean, The Washington Post reported Friday, citing internal U.S. government documents it obtained.

According to the report, Maduro requested help to strengthen Venezuela’s air defense systems, including the delivery of 14 missile units and the restoration of several Russian-made Sukhoi Su-30MK2 fighter jets that Caracas previously purchased.

He also asked for overhauls of eight engines and five radars as well as unspecified “logistical support.”

Maduro’s written appeal to Putin was delivered by Venezuelan Transportation Minister Ramón Celestino Velásquez during a visit to Moscow in mid-October in which he met with his Russian counterpart, the documents said.

The letter reportedly described the Su-30 jets as “the most important deterrent the Venezuelan National Government had when facing the threat of war.”

The Venezuelan leader also sought a “medium-term financing plan of three years” through Russian state defense conglomerate Rostec, though the amount was not specified.

It remains unclear whether Russia has responded to the request, The Washington Post noted.

Hezbollah professor in US Abukhalil praises attack which killed white Catholics Argentine children

Asad Abukhalil is a Hezbollah linked Lebanese-American professor of political science at California State University, Stanislaus. He is from a Shia family and is friends with Hezb members.

This is news article written by him a few days ago.

He praised the 1992 and 1994 Hezbollah bombings in Argentina in the Hezbollah linked Lebanese al-Akhbar newspaper, basically confirming Hezbollah did it after decades of official denials.

White Catholic civilians and priests were killed and churches were hit as collateral damage in Hezbollah and Iranian attacks against Jewish targets in the 1980s and 1990s.

Hezb and Iran apparently didn't care about PR among Christians back then at all.

The 1992 attack by Hezbollah killed mostly white Catholics including a priest and children, after blowing up a Catholic church and school, only a few actual Jews died.

Aide to Massachusetts governor nabbed in cocaine bust

An aide to Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey was arrested Tuesday night on cocaine trafficking charges after investigators allegedly intercepted a drug shipment slated for delivery at the Springfield State Office Building.

Lamar Cook, 45, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of cocaine trafficking in 200 grams or more, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Bail was set at $25,000, subject to the outcome of a hearing Friday, his defense attorney told The Hill.

Prosecutors say a shipment of nearly 8 kilograms was intercepted Saturday, before undercover delivery officers packaged approximately 225 grams back up and carried out “a controlled delivery operation” to the state office building where Cook worked.

Three days later, the Hampden District Attorney’s Office said, police arrested Cook at a traffic stop.

Cook is listed as the deputy director of “Governors Western Mass Office” on his LinkedIn profile, which indicates he’s served in that position for 2 1/2 years.

“As the Western Massachusetts Director for Governor Maura Healey, I serve as a key liaison between the state government and the western region of Massachusetts. In this role, I effectively manage and coordinate government initiatives and policies in 4 counties,” his LinkedIn job description states.

A spokesperson for Healey’s office told local news outlets that Cook was fired “effectively immediately” upon learning of the arrest Tuesday.

“The conduct that occurred here is unacceptable and represents a major breach of the public trust,” the spokesperson said in the reported statement.

I got tired of media outlets lying and posting fake news.

So I built an app where you attach a location to a post.

You can potentially spoof GPS, but with the location attached it's easy for someone go to there and verify if shit is fake or not.

Thought /pol/ might be interested. Just released a few days ago.

Not sure who to tell. Not great at this marketing thing.

App link is hereabout.app, ios only for now.

Fact Check: Did Democrats vote against funding SNAP

Did Democrats vote against funding SNAP during the Schumer Shutdown?

Fact Check: Did Democrats Vote Against Funding SNAP Benefits?

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has accused Senate Democrats of voting “12 times to not fund” Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits as the multiweek government shutdown continues.

The federal government has been shut down for nearly a month after Congress could not come to an agreement on a funding bill.

A funding bill passed the House, but stalled in the Senate, where it must clear the 60-vote filibuster to advance. Republicans currently control the Senate by a 53-47 margin, and only two Democratic senators have supported the temporary funding bill. Democrats have said they will not support the bill because it does not address their concerns about health care subsidies, specifically those established in the Affordable Care Act (ACA), that are set to expire at the end of the year.

The shutdown extending into November would have critical implications for SNAP Benefits starting November 1.

Tens of millions of Americans would not be paid benefits on time due to a lack of funding. Democrats and Republicans have cast blame toward each other for not taking steps to secure the program's funding.

Newsweek has reached out to Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for comment.

Trump fires federal arts board in charge of reviewing White House ballroom and ‘Arc de Trump’

No.1453441 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/29/trump-fires-arts-board-arc-ballroom

Donald Trump has fired all six members of an independent federal agency responsible for reviewing his controversial White House ballroom and planned “Arc de Trump” in Washington DC.

The Washington Post first reported that all members of the Commission of Fine Arts were dismissed on Tuesday.

“On behalf of President Donald J. Trump, I am writing to inform you that your position as a member of the Commission of Fine Arts is terminated, effective immediately,” read an email sent to one of the commissioners, which was obtained by the Post.

A White House official told the Guardian: “We are preparing to appoint a new slate of members to the commission that are more aligned with President Trump’s America First Policies.”

The Commission of Fine Arts was established in 1910, and is tasked with “giving expert advice to the President, the Congress and the federal and District of Columbia governments on matters of design and aesthetics”, according to its website.

Its purview includes reviewing designs proposed for memorials and new or renovated government buildings, and the commission is intended to be staffed by experts in art, architecture and urban design. There is no indication about whom Trump plans to appoint to the commission.
