American mental health improves

No.1448021 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
The troon fad of 2020 is fading away. Young people are becoming increasingly heterosexual. Scientists believe the lower levels of queer and troonery are caused by lower levels of mental illness, as they have ruled out other factors. Higher levels of mental illness around 2020 were linked to higher rates of non-hetero, and the current lower levels of mental illness are linked to higher levels of heterosexuality.

Young Americans Are Increasingly Identifying as Heterosexual Again: Study

A new study has found that fewer and fewer young Americans are identifying as transgender or queer, while more and more young people are identifying as heterosexual.

The findings have captured significant attention, with a post on the social media platform X accumulating more than 13 million views since it was shared on Tuesday, sparking considerable discourse online.

The findings also differ from other reports on LGBTQ+ identification trends in America, as the polling company Gallup reported earlier this year that LGBTQ+ identification had instead been on the rise in 2024.

While President Donald Trump has made his views on transgender identity clear—signing an order stating there are only two sexes and scrapping diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) programs this year—the decline begins in 2023, according to the study, suggesting that his election, and wider political influences, did not spark the decrease.

The researchers of the study instead suggest that changes in mental health among young people following the COVID-19 pandemic and the role social media may have had on this trend, while political and cultural attitudes have had little impact.

Republican Youth Leadership are revolting

tldr: Young Republican leadership group chat got leaked after infighting, its full of the sort of shit you'd expect

Choice bits:

In another exchange, Dwyer, the Kansas’ chair, informs Giunta that one of Michigan’s Young Republicans promised him the group “will vote for the most right wing person” to lead the national organization.

“Great. I love Hitler,” Giunta responded.

Dwyer reacted with a smiley face.

One was a late July message where Mosiman, the chair of the Arizona Young Republicans, mused about how the group could win support for their preferred candidate by linking an opponent to white supremacist groups. But Mosiman then realized the plan could backfire — Kansas’ Young Republicans could end up becoming attracted to that opponent.

“Can we get them to start releasing Nazi edits with her… Like pro Nazi and faciam [sic] propaganda,” he asked the group.

“Omg I love this plan,” Rachel Hope, the Arizona Young Republicans events chair, responded.

Weeks later, someone in the chat staying in a hotel asks its members to “GUESS WHAT ROOM WE’RE IN.”

“1488,” Dwyer responds. White supremacists use the number 1488 because 14 is the number of words in the white supremacist slogan “We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children.” H is the eighth letter in the alphabet, and 88 is often used as a shorthand for “Heil Hitler.”

Antifa terrorist splinter cell charged

Two members of an antifa terror cell have been charged with terrorism, among other charges.
They lured federal agents at an ICE facility outside by shooting fireworks at the facility and then ambushed them with gunfire, striking one officer in the neck

Federal prosecutors file antifa terrorism charges for first time in Texas case

Two people face terrorism charges, the first terrorism charges directed toward anyone accused of being linked to antifa, in connection with a shooting outside the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, on July 4.

A federal grand jury indicted Cameron Arnold of Dallas and Zachary Evetts of Waxahachie, Texas. Both face seven charges, including three counts of discharging a firearm during, in relation to, and in furtherance of a crime of violence; and three counts of attempted murder of officers and employees of the United States.

Arnold and Evetts are also accused of providing material support to terrorists.

The charges stem from a shooting at the detention center where “a North Texas Antifa Cell of at least eleven operatives, clad in black and donning masks, some of whom were wearing body armor and carrying firearms” shot off fireworks at the facility, prompting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) correctional officers to investigate, authorities said.

After Alvarado police officers arrived, a person in black carrying a rifle shot at the officers and struck one in the neck area, according to authorities. The person in black was Arnold, prosecutors said, adding that he kept shooting until the rifle jammed and ran off with the other “attackers.”

Before the shooting, prosecutors said that the “cell” planned the attack. The goal “was to destroy U.S. government property and commit acts dangerous to human life intended to influence the policy of the U.S. government and affect government conduct by intimidation and coercion."

State Department says it has revoked visas from people who ‘celebrated’ Charlie Kirk’s murder

No.1447963 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://edition.cnn.com/2025/10/14/politics/state-department-revoke-visas-charlie-kirk-murder
The US State Department said it has revoked visas from at least six individuals who allegedly “celebrated” Charlie Kirk’s murder.

In a post on X Tuesday – which would have been Kirk’s birthday – the agency cataloged “just a few examples” of people who had their visas revoked for comments about the conservative figure following his death. The State Department also said it “continues to identify visa holders who celebrated the heinous assassination of Charlie Kirk.”

The Department’s moves to revoke and deny visas to people for their comments about Kirk have raised questions about their legality under the First Amendment.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last month that the agency had “most certainly been denying visas” to people “celebrating” Kirk’s murder.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said he had instructed consular officials to monitor the comments on social media claiming to identify individuals “praising, rationalizing, or making light of” Kirk’s death.

It is unclear how many people have been assigned to do the social media vetting or if the revocations cited Tuesday represent all of those who have had their visas revoked.

CNN has asked the State Department for further details about the revocations.

Among the examples cited Tuesday are a post said to be from an Argentine national who said that Kirk “‘devoted his entire life spreading racist, xenophobic, misogynistic rhetoric’ and deserves to burn in hell”; another said to be from a South African national who “mocked Americans grieving the loss of Kirk, saying ‘they’re hurt that the racist rally ended in attempted martyrdom’ and alleging ‘he was used to astroturf a movement of white nationalist trailer trash’”; and a Paraguayan national who allegedly said, “Charlie Kirk was a son of a b**** and he died by his own rules.”

Two dead in UK synagogue attack on Yom Kippur, police kill suspect 'with bomb'

No.1444094 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-police-respond-incident-outside-synagogue-manchester-2025-10-02/
MANCHESTER, England, Oct 2 (Reuters) - At least two people were killed when an assailant drove a car into pedestrians and stabbed a security guard near a synagogue in England where worshippers were marking Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, British police said.
Greater Manchester Police said the suspect, who was believed to be carrying a bomb, was shot dead on Thursday after they rushed to the scene at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in the Crumpsall district of the city in northern England.

A video shared on social media and verified by Reuters showed police shooting a man inside the synagogue’s perimeter, while another man lay on the floor in a pool of blood, appearing to wear a traditional Jewish head covering.

"He has a bomb, go away!" an armed police officer shouted to onlookers as he tried to wave away members of the public, just seconds before a gunshot rang out, and the suspect who was trying to get to his feet fell to the floor.

"I could see three policemen aiming guns at a bloke (man) in the car park of the synagogue next door, telling him to not move, stay down, don't move or we'll shoot," neighbour Angela Crawshaw told Reuters.
"Then they did shoot, and he fell to the floor. Then he tried getting up again and moving again, and they shot him again. And then it was just panic ... just noise and panic."
A bomb disposal unit was later called to the scene, and a Reuters witness heard three small explosions. Police confirmed that one loud bang was specialist officers gaining entry to the suspect's vehicle as a precaution.
GMP said that as well as the suspect and two members of the public who were confirmed dead, three other people were in a serious condition.

Media outlets, including MAGA channel Newsmax, refuse to sign Pentagon’s press access rules

No.1447472 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/13/media/pentagon-hegseth-press-restrictions-newsmax-atlantic

The Pentagon is telling beat reporters to sign restrictive new rules by Tuesday or surrender their press passes by Wednesday. Many news organizations are rejecting the ultimatum and saying they will not sign.

The Pentagon Press Association, a body that represents the beat reporters, says the new policy championed by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth “gags Pentagon employees and threatens retaliation against reporters who seek out information that has not been pre-approved for release.”

In a statement on Monday, the association said that “potential expulsion from the Pentagon should be a concern to all.”

In short, many reporters and their employers feel they can’t stomach the new restrictions, so many news outlets stand to lose physical access to the Pentagon complex — something that has been a standard part of Washington-area news coverage for decades.

Editors and reporters say they’ll continue to cover the US military thoroughly, with or without press credentials. Some well-known members of the Pentagon press corps have used the credentialing controversy to encourage tipsters to get in touch with them.

Trump says he will impose additional 100% tariffs on China

No.1446831 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
https://www.dw.com/en/trump-says-he-will-impose-additional-100-tariffs-on-china/a-74315664
US President Donald Trump has announced new 100% tariffs on all Chinese goods, in addition to already existing tariffs on Beijing, after China placed export controls on rare earths.

The US president claimed the tariffs, which will go into effect on November 1 "or sooner, depending on any further actions or changes taken by China" were reciprocal.

Trump plans to impose export controls on "any and all critical software."

"It has just been learned that China has taken an extraordinarily aggressive position on Trade in sending an extremely hostile letter to the World, stating that they were going to, effective November 1st, 2025, impose large scale Export Controls on virtually every product they make, and some not even made by them," Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

"It is absolutely unheard of in international trade, and a moral disgrace in dealing with other Nations".

Trump then announced the new punitive measures in retaliation. The new 100% tariffs come on top of 30% US duties which were already in place on Chinese imports, summing up to a whopping 130% tariff rate on Chinese goods.

The new tariffs threaten to restart a trade war first launched earlier this year shortly after Trump took office, with both nations exchanging exponentially high tariffs which were later paused after several rounds of negotiations.

Earlier on Friday, Trump threatened to cancel a meeting planned with Chinese President Xi Jinping in nearly three weeks in South Korea.

The US president had said there was no reason to hold the meeting after China announced its dramatic expansion of its rare earth element export controls.

On Friday evening however, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he has not cancelled the meeting.

Beijing dominates the market for rare earths, which are essential for tech manufacturing.
