LGPE has less content, less Pokemon, less online features, and is just less of a game than it's predecessors, and even less content than the Gen 1 remakes that predate it a decade. The main feature Gamefreak is pushing to us us riding Pokemon, and it's much easier for Gamefreak to let you ride on your Onix than it is for them to make a proper, yet faithful remake of Kanto. The people they're appealing to see you riding on your Arcanine and go "wow! That's totally worth $60!" because that's all they care about. THEREFORE, their standards are lower.
LGPE has shown to cut as many corners as possible but people will still eat it up because the 90s kids and parents don't give a shit, hence, no fucking standards.
