Jokes aside, it really looks like Tomiyasu does not vibe with any of the ashnime characters at all, he doesn't relate to them so he doesn't write any actual interactions between them, instead throwing in some vague lol so random non-obliging "easter shit" that won't register a year or two later.
AG and XY proved that the show actually has the capacity to commit to romantic developments, Tomiyasu is just a soulless fuck who sits like a sitting Psyduck on the show, hogging any real progress or interactions which makes no sense with how the show is literally ending.
The ashnime needs a more passionate director, somebody who actually wants to weave a story with the present cast of characters.
Like, with Shudo's and Yajima's seasons we got a sense of what they were trying to convey.
Shudo was about le realism and crypto schizo theories, Yajima was more about high tension and actuon, ambition.
Tomiyasu's seasons are like. Filler. What is Ash's goal, or overarching message? There is none. So like, what's the whole point of his seasons? I mean he's sitting on the most influential anime internationally and he just...doesn't try to convey anything? Why does the ashnime need a writer like that?
