Adel’s family, Griesha, were one of the founding families of magic, their greatest contribution being that they created a Grimoire that holds almost every recorded magic spell within its pages titled “Cain’s Sin”. After an “accident” involving her younger brother, Adel was made head of the family. However, Adel committed one of the greatest sins of magic, that being she had used “forbidden magic” to take a person’s life. This caused the Griesha family to be cast away from the Church, but the use of forbidden magic intensified when Adel became the head of the family.

Quickly, you huddle against the wall and crouch low, then you scurry into the nearest hallway. Once hidden behind the wall, you pull your cloak onto your side to cover you from the corridor, and then you silently watch, waiting in anticipation and fear as the skittering grows louder.

First, you see a human head, only it's upside down, contorted into a wailing expression, and covered in dark fuzz. A long, matted, tangled mess of hair hangs from what's usually the top of any head, and drags along the floor. And that tongue... Long, swollen, and pointing in the air as if gravity was set backwards on it, and it's coated in fresh blood. More of that... THING, comes into view. Two jagged, distorted arms. Eight narrow legs thudding rhythmically along the floor, a thorax, an abdomen...

It's a good thing you're not breathing right now, because you would vomit otherwise.

The creature passes by without even noticing your presence. Its footsteps trail off into nothingness after a while.
