it worked for previous generations because even with advances in graphics, they were all still top-down & grid-based, so you could translate the game worlds basically 1:1 into the new styles. FRLG's maps are practically identical to RBG's, and HGSS's to GSC's. they just have new assets. even ORAS was still grid-based despite having 3D graphics, and even by that point you could see it starting to get awkward to translate the old gameboy overworlds into the new styles, it was very blocky and rigid looking.

going onto the Switch, maintaining that grid-based overworld structure that the old games were designed with, within the new style of games just isn't possible, so they would have had to redesign Sinnoh from the ground up instead of effectively just porting it into a new engine with new assets. it would have been an entirely different kind of project from the other remakes. we got spoiled with the old handheld remakes, they were really a product of their time that allowed them to be made so faithfully within the then-current game engines.

The space inside the beast was a humid, lightless tomb. Cynthia’s lungs burned with every shallow breath of caustic air. Panic finally shattered her dignified facade; she began to strike out blindly, her fists and boots sinking into the thick, spongy lining of the stomach walls. Cynthia’s blows grew weaker as the intense heat began to sap her strength. The walls didn't tear; they simply rippled, absorbing her strikes with a sickening, rhythmic pulse.
"You know," Emmydook continued, the tone turning cruelly casual, "I was wondering where to leave the 'leftovers.' I think I’ll take a stroll to Celestic Town. Once my gut is finished turning the great Sinnoh Champion into a steaming pile of waste, I’ll drop a load right on your grandmother’s doorstep. I want her to see exactly what’s left of her precious granddaughter before I move on to the rest of the village."
The graphic image hit Cynthia harder than the heat. The mental picture of such a humiliating, foul end—of being reduced to nothing but filth for her family to find—broke something inside her. Her hands stopped clawing.

this isn't the best site to find social contacts, nobody is going to want to doxx themselves. go network at local retro game shops, or places that do tabletop rpg & tcg stuff, they might even have pokemon events. I live in a Canadian city of less than 100k and even here there are retro gaming communities and events, I'm sure they exist in Calgary or Edmonton, just gotta look for them.
