I did it a few times in the past with friends because of the free room.

It wasn't all that bad, but I was under 18 during that time, so some stuff they couldn't have me do (like helping unpack and set up stuff in the dealers room).

I was always given a schedule that had to have [X] amount of hours of work, but sometimes you could get moved if if were needed elsewhere.

I had to defend the furry meetup from hecklers when I'd rather of been one of the hecklers, which really sucked. But I also helped out one of the dealers when one of their people had something come up and had to leave. The guy let me pick out a free t-shirt for helping.

tldr; Sometimes you have to do shitty stuff you don't want to do or interact with the worst of the worst, but cool stuff can happen sometimes, too. Also, free room. If you really want to try it, I say go ahead.

I did it before in Mexico, to be more precise, in Tamaulipas. The conventions here are so much different than the ones in USA. Almost every month there is one but they're more like a flea market rather than a con. I do it because the idiots here can't go to others conventions and they eat whatever "convention" we have here. Basically my work was random things like moving stuff to the stage or giving ID to staff who sell their stuff. At least you get to be with the convention guest but most of the guests are mexican VA from mainstream animation series like Dragon Ball (it's still a huge thing here), Naruto, Death Note and The SImpsons.

Note if staff seem unhappy to you as an attendee, their department probably isn't fun to work at. Unless you want to take over from the inside and become the con king.

I've volunteered twice for Galacon. The worst thing that has happened to me was I had to guard a back room for hours on end and be bored to tears. Generally, volunteers end up missing most panels, but get to have other kinds of fun and that feeling of importance.

That being said, relationships are tricky. She's young, and so probably still sees anyone who has so much as grazed her vagina with the back of their hand as a boyfriend. Honesty is going to be key, here. Tell her that it's all moving a bit fast for you, and you want to take things slow so that you don't freak out and get commitment-phobic. Give it time, get to know her (more than just her pussy), and see if you guys click. You might end up wanting more. Same thing happened to me, and I ended up marrying her. My friends and I forgot about it. It's been on my bucket list to go to a con, and it's probably the closest one to me...only about a 4 hour drive or so.

I'm almost kinda glad I didn't go though. I've seen awesome youtube videos of past cons but I'm not sure if I'd be able to handle that much of a culture shock, even with friends.

Does anyone have a greentext of what a day is like at a con so I know what I'm missing (or not)?
