GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina came into office pledging to contest President Joe Biden's electoral win.

Throughout the evening of the deadly Jan. 6 Capitol riots, Cawthorn continued to challenge the election results for both Arizona and Pennsylvania, emphasizing his focus on election integrity and the Constitution.

However, during a Saturday interview with CNN's Pamela Brown, his argument for contesting the results fell apart.

When Cawthorn was asked by Brown for evidence supporting claims of voter fraud, he was unable to cite any specific cases.

"The things that I was not objecting to the election on behalf of was things like Dominion voting machines changing ballots, or these U-Haul trucks pulling up filled with ballots for Joe Biden as president," he said.

"The thing I was objecting for is things like, like I said in the state of Wisconsin, particularly in the town of Madison … there was an appointed official in that town who actually went against the will of the state legislature and created ballot drop boxes, which is basically ballot harvesting that was happening in the parks," he continued.

That effort to screw the pros -- people with a short position on a stock that is surging have major vulnerabilities the higher the stock goes -- got an unexpected boost from none other than iconoclast-in-chief and Tesla founder Elon Musk, who tweeted "Gamestonk!" with a link to the "wallstreetbets" subreddit on Tuesday.

What's the end game for the GameStop surgers? Like, now that they have proven the point that they can take a stock that the pros have declared moribund and revive it -- at least for a moment -- what do they do now? Because they don't really believe that GameStop is suddenly the new Amazon or Apple or Google. It's still mostly a business that derives its value from brick and mortar stores in malls. Which, again, is not exactly a big growth area in the coming years.

The point is that there is no real point beyond showing up the pros -- proving to them that they aren't as smart as they think they are and that they don't have the ability to control everything. Which, again, has its roots in Trumpism.

Sticking it to the man will only get you so far. It's not a solution to any problem. It's just a way to express frustration

The announcement was one of a number of new measures announced by tech giants Monday in an effort to deter further unrest after the deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol last week. Twitter Inc. said it has removed more than 70,000 accounts since Friday that spread the QAnon conspiracy theory, whose followers believe Mr. Trump is under assault by Satan worshipers.

“We’ve been clear that we will take strong enforcement action on behavior that has the potential to lead to offline harm,” Twitter said in a blog post. “Given the violent events in Washington, DC, and increased risk of harm, we began permanently suspending thousands of accounts that were primarily dedicated to sharing QAnon content on Friday afternoon.”

Facebook, Twitter and several other prominent technology companies—including Snap Inc., Reddit Inc. and others—already had taken steps in recent days to silence the president’s personal accounts or online communities devoted to him, citing rules prohibiting content that incites violence.

Fifty-seven-year-old Bronx resident Paul Alexander was arrested Thursday for allegedly trafficking girls as young as 12 years old.

“The arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the state prosecutor’s office called ‘Operation Mile High’ — a nod to his job as CEO of Central Jet Charter, New York Attorney General Letitia James said Saturday,” the New York Post reported.

Alexander allegedly charged an undercover agent $300 for sex with two girls, with both victims earning a third of the money, the article read.

The New York attorney general’s office detailed the events in a press release on Saturday:

The initial investigation began in March after a female minor reported Alexander to the NYPD, alleging that Alexander sexually abused her and other underage girls, and promoted them for prostitution to other men. An undercover police officer met with Alexander who charged him a total of $300 for sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old victim and a 14-year-old victim — and encouraged the undercover officer to use alcohol and marijuana to make the victims more cooperative.

Alexander was arraigned Saturday and charged with “multiple counts of Sex Trafficking of a Child, Attempted Sex Trafficking of a Child, related counts of First and Second Degrees of Promoting Prostitution, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child,” the release said.
