>>8121799I'm not going to pretend like I'm some kind of genius artist or whatever. Hitler obviously painted far better than me. That being said, as far as professional artists go (ESPECIALLY ones that specialize in Architecture) Hitler was far below average. He really just didn't understand perspective at all. Your image is probably the least shitty painting he made, which is likely why it's used so often.
Adolf Hitler was rejected from the most prestigious art school in Austria by an academic who was unquestionably reactionary and despised everything about non-traditional art. This was not some kind of slight against him in particular, he was not rejected because they only wanted Marxists who painted abstract depictions of synagouges. He simply wasn't good enough to be accepted into the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. He could have gotten into a different college, but not that one. If he wanted to get in with paintings of Architecture, he was going to need to distinguish himself from everybody else who was doing the exact same thing. The only way he could do that is if he had extreme technical skill. He did not.
But for Hitler it was either the top or nothing at all, so he quit painting. This actually didn't play a major role in his life, he pretty much never brought it up after he got into politics.
Ultimately, I really don't see the appeal. Even ignoring the war that he started that killed tens of millions of people, and the Holocaust, and the political repression, and the uncountable war crimes committed under his leadership, he wasn't really a good artist. Or an author, as he would admit himself, but that's a different story.
