I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to creating stuff. I'm trying to get back into making Youtube videos. I have no problem writing the script or filming the footage, but then when I edit, huge self doubt overcomes me and I can't help but think "is this even funny? If I wouldn't watch this, and I'm the one making it, would anyone else?" and I end up just scrapping my project. Rinse and repeat for 6~ years

Bored. Been trapped in my house with nothing to do for almost 2 years. Can't go out and meet people, can't go out and meet women, and women are getting more insane by the day. I wanted to program again, but all I feel like coding are tools for editing a game that maybe all of 2 other people know about. Plus I find the whole concept of video games really immature these days, aside from casual stuff. I look at the stuff I do and go "will people see me as an adult, or a child who hasn't grown up?".

I'm still lifting weights and improving myself (grew a garden this year, rather successfully on my first try).

But I can't improve socially. Everyone I know is tethered to their phones and can't hold a conversation. It's depressing. I want real human contact, not this artificial nonsense.

I'm not picky when in comes to women. I'm okay with women 30+, I'm okay with some of the more chubby women. Hell I'd be okay if she was one of those more modern women career women who wanted a house husband.

Being bored is the same as being lazy. Work towards something. Keep lifting, branch out into other forms of exercise or physical activity (climbing, running, skiing, anything really). Or better yet try to build another income stream. Being alone affords you time. You can either use that time to your advantage to improve your life, or you can waste it feeling lonely.

My dad died when I was 20, lung cancer, I dropped out of college when he was sick, then a year later my mom got diagnosed with breast cancer so I just stayed at home taking care of her, this was around 2016.
She improved and recovered, I got into college again and mom got diagnosed with cancer again when I was in my last year, she died this summer, I was 28, 29 now.
I finished my studies and came back home, the house were I grew up, but now I'm all by myself here.
I spent 4 years living in a different city with my gf (now ex) and now I'm back in the small village were I grew up, everyone here is either old or working on dead end jobs at factories, etc. and I dont know what to do with my life
It feels like I fell off the train of life or something, feels like there is no one left that truly knows me or cares about me.

Getting your foot in the door socially is hard anon, I agree that its hard to make conversation with people when they are glued to their phones, some are more susceptible to that while others simple do it to blend in and not look out of place. I often find myself doing the same if people around me are doing it. At the end of the day its just some peoples default. Like with anything its all about exposure. It will take awhile to get good at socializing but it'll come. Try going on omegle a few times a week or lean into your hobbies and find a social group in your area. You mentioned about gardening. Is there a community garden near you? Or say you always wanted to rock climb go to a beginners class. Chin up anon, your doing well

Hi me. Just start doing the motivation will come, Its been so long since youve acomplished something you have forgotten what it feels like too succeed. Remember the two day rule. You can skip something for a day and but never 2 days in a row this goes for working out, study etc. Eventually you'll find a rythym and be doing shit alternate days and then everyday

I live in a roach infested house with a mom that's a hoarder and an angry alcoholic. The house we live in was my grandparents and used to be the hub of where the whole family would meet for every holiday. I was excited when I found out it would be our house and stay in the family but the house along with my relationship with almost everyone in my family would completely deteriorate slowly. The only clean room in the house is mine, and even though I try my best I have to be careful how long I leave a drink or food out because it will become infested within a couple hours. I cannot cook food in the kitchen or keep food in the fridge because roaches will get to it. One of my only options to escape this is to move out. But I'm not really financially comfortable enough to do that because I can barely afford my food, gas, phone and insurance right now. I could move into an apartment with my girlfriend who I've been with for around 3 years but I'm scared of this commitment. She's never met my parents because I'm terrified of how they will be. They're both alcoholics and separated when I was 10 and it couldn't have come soon enough. The divorce hasn't kept them from using me as a pawn. My dad would tell me all the fucked up shit my mom has done to me when he would pick me up to hang out, then when I got home my mom would tell me all the fucked up things my dads done to me when I was a kid. I really want some sort of escape.

I love my mom, I love my dad and I love my girlfriend. But sometimes on my way home from work, late at night I like to see how long I can keep my eyes closed as I drive towards the woods at the end of the main road I live off of. I could never kill myself, nor have I ever deeply considered it because I know how it would effect those close to me. But at least dying in an 'accident' will effect them far less.

Sorry for dumping this but its been on my mind for a long time and never talk about it... here's a cool boat.

Hey anon I think that if your girlfriend loves you, she would not hold the way your parents are against you. But I also can appreciate finding out the answer to that question is hard enough on its own. I've been lifting weights and reading philosophy since high school. I spend a lot of time outside. I cook my own healthy meals. I try looking for clubs to join. I have a job and live on my own. I don't have any addictions. I've been single for over 10 years. I haven't had sex for like 6. I don't really have any friends. Right at the start of pandemic my Dad past and then my job disappeared due to the shutdowns. Began working at a gas station until my job came back. I've been offered a legitimate position at the school instead of contract subbing while still working at the gas station. I just need to take some board exams to get fully onboarded at the school. I work 55+ hours a week making pretty good money. I live at home to take care of Mum since Dad passed. I date two chicks in 2021, but no luck in the passed 8 months so I work around 12 hours a day. To be honest I have nothing really to bitch about, I just wouldn't mind having a chick around for fooling around or relationship stuff. My biggest gripe is all this virus stuff making people lazy. I get mentally exhausted doing the work of multiple people at both jobs.

The woman and I ended up calling things off as I came on too strong to force a relationship and she admitted that she only wanted a dick to ride. I didn't land the job either.

Disappointed in myself because I know I can do better. I am my own detriment to my intelligence, health and potential. my gf n I of 5+ years broke up on halloween 2020 Out of the handful of women I dated since then I haven't had any real luck with any of them. They all seemed like decent folk but never felt like there were any opportunities or connections to take it past a couple dates and get physical. either theyd or Id loose interest and fall off. thb this is going on to be the longest dry spell Ive had since I was a teen. I wish I could say its not getting to me, but I really miss all the perk of having a partner. being dry n lonely bites.

In just 2 years I've been left alone by everyone I love and it's hard to accept that I deserve it. I have just turned 21 and I just can't find motivation to keep on growing professionally or academically. I've been depressed for 4 years now, on and off of medication and I just don't see how I can regain joy for living again.

The only thing I sorta enjoy is helping others, doing charity stuff and trying to be a good person. It's like my way to compensate that I am a fucking waste of resources, a useless human being, a piss of shit that can't appreciate how comfortable and privileged his life is. If I could just give any suffering person the chance to live my life, with my healthy body and resources, I would. I don't deserve it because I don't appreciate it enough.

I just want to die guys. I'm tired of pretending to my parents that I am making progress with my meds. I'm tired of giving them hope of seeing their child being successful, rich and happy. I cant pretend that j want to be alive anymore and it's so fucking depressing I can't talk about this with anyone I love and I feel I'm just abusing my parents money by going to a therapist.

I'm so, so done. I'm so sad. I have tried so hard to get better but I can't.

I don't think I've ever found a wallpaper that I'm 100% satisfied with. Especially on PC. There are so many good ones with a nice color palette and what not. But none of them seem to match what I'm about, do you know what I mean? Think the closest I've come was a Mirror's Edge wallpaper back in the day but the game hasn't been relevant in so long I can no longer use it now. 8 months ago I moved across the country (3000 miles) to go to university. My girlfriend of 2 years came with me and we moved in together for the first itme. Things were going great for a while but they soon after started to deteriorate. 2 weeks ago, we came to the mutual conclusion that our lives are going different directions and its best we end the relationship before we both totally hate each other.
Additionally, i recently found out a close friend of mine passed away last year from a drug overdose. he reached out to me shortly before he died, and I cant help but feel I could have saved him.
I've also been broke as hell for the last two months, so I've been working overtime to pay my bills, but its seriously cutting into my school work.
I'm 3000 miles from home with now nobody to really talk to about any of this. I keep going through my daily life just trying to keep things pieced together, then go home and drink/smoke and cry for a couple hours before I fall asleep.

Feels like everything is collapsing all at once. I'm usually a pretty cheery guy and I feel like I do a decent job of keeping my chin up even when things aren't going great. But living with my ex girlfriend and continually suffering emotional breakdowns about my ending relationship and my dead friend and threat of being evicted and working not enough to pay my bills but too much for school to be a priority is all really getting to me. I've been either drunk or high constantly over the last two weeks and I just feel like I'm going to have some sort of psychotic break soon.

Been feeling real shitty about my place in the world the past few days. Like many of the posts above, I just feel like I don't have anything to offer anyone else, all I can do is be a pain in the ass. I try to do good, but whenever I talk with people I pull the same shit and just feel like a social burden. I've actually been watching What We Do in the Shadows recently, and I've found myself identifying with the energy vampire character. Just popping into people's day to drain their energy. The closest thing to real friends I've every had are a handful of toxic shitheads who I can drink and smoke with. Never had someone I could actually talk to, and if I ever get the chance at that kind of relationship I know I'll pull away before I can actually make that kind of connection.
On top of that, I have a good life on paper. Reasonably well off, good living situation, great job, loving family, etc. So I feel like I don't deserve to feel shitty, which only makes it worse.
I've been having a thought recently, that it's kind of annoying that I have a family, because that means suicide is off the table because of how it would hurt them. Not sure how worried I should be about that.

I just lost my mom. I didn't see her for 4 years and I couldn't get there in time to see her alive on the ICU (because covid). The last time l saw my mom's face was when the funeral agency took her body and I couldn't even touch her or come close. The burial was made within 2 hours and I didn't even had time to process the whole thing. I always tough I would have a lot of time to retribute my mom for everything she has done for me and to make her proud of me for achivieng a quality of life we couldn't dream of in our family.
My point is: do what you have to do and say what you have to say to your loved ones while you can. We don't know how many times left we have with them to do so.

I moved out of my mother's place and within weeks of me doing that she got in a car wreck. (it was the other guy's fault, he drove off immediately) She was okay physically but had already gone through a bunch of financial shit before that and was a wreck herself. Despite me having my own place, I've been living with her so she can borrow my car and at this point she almost always has it when I'm not at work now. When I told her I was going to catch up with some mates she started bawling and emotionally manipulating me to stay "home". This was after weeks of me being isolated in a house I no longer lived in. It sucks because she has a tendency for manipulating me but at the same time she really is a wreck right now, so I have to balance being there for her to pick her feet up and putting my foot down occasionally when she goes out of line. She has the money now for another car and after I sent her some links to a new vehicle, she's going to a dealership in a few days. I guess the moral of my rambling is, be there for your family but also be vigilant and don't let yourself be exploited.

I am happy. As happy as I have ever been. So much that I am not sure how to deal with this, I am used to things not working for me. Last year I was miserable in a house I didn't want to live in, with a job I hated and almost no one to talk to.
Now I live in a nice house, with a better job. I even got a girlfriend I love.
I have never been so deeply in love with anyone. She is just everything I was looking for. I feel like I have found my rocket launcher.

Next year she will be moving to the UK to finish her degree and I want to follow her there. It should not be hard for me to find a job there, so that is not a problem. But I am not sure if I want to live there. Not my favorite country. I want to try, I will hate myself too much if I just let her go like that. I want to try. I feel like letting her go will be the worst mistake of my life.
I love her. I want to be with her.

I'm behind where I want to be in my life in terms of my career goals and living situation, and I'm single. Get my work done, finish what I've started, learn how to bring people into my life. That might mean injecting myself into theirs, but I don't know that I want to believe that; it's so exhausting making all the effort to maintain someone's interest. I think if I just focus on everything else I'm working on, I won't have to try so hard to be interesting.

Months ago something broke between us. Not a dramatic break full of screaming and slapping and whatever else, but a small argument that escalated into us each saying things we didn't mean. Or maybe we did mean them. Since then we've had days where I'm up and she's down, and vice versa. She got tired of me, maybe I was too overbearing. Regardless of who did what, I feel like we are fundamentally changed and I don't like it.

I feel like I damaged us. It's my fault and I am sorry. I think I'm about at the end here, despite all my attempts to be the man she deserves. It's too much to get in to. Enough for now.

I feel like im going through the best comeback story of all time. Last year i was able to get a solid job in my study field and make enough money to now get an apartment and a car. been slowly getting better and finally can say ive been feeling happy for the last two months or so. To the anon that is reading this thinking it doesn't get better: It does, trust me. I'm the living testament to this. I had no one, lost everything, and it came around. I fell the same way. We lived in different states and it's very expensive to get there (+-40 hours long bus travel) and I've been finishing my college and master degree in the last 4 years. There is also the pandemic restrictions in the last 2 years. But I know there is no excuse for it. If I really wanted to see her I would have done it. It really all started in 2016.

But, long story short, I fucked up with friends, moved in and out with said friends.

Met a girl in 2018, she was nuts, and I was dumb enough to stick around.

I finally let her go, but thats when shit really hit the fan and nothings gotten better.

I've been dealing with severe depression since then.

It's gotten to the point where I tell myself it's not worth to try and change things because I know they won't get better.

I'm 34 years old, have aspergers and living with my 70 year old mother.

I've just given up. Don't care to get a job because I'll never be able to live on my own and just be happy.

I'm fucking awful with roommates and I've not bothered "going out" because I'm a social retard.

I've lost what little friend's I had because I'm again, a fucking retard.

The one time in my life I had sex, i was still too damn depressed to even enjoy it.

I just can't fucking do it anymore. People always tell me "It'll get better, you just have to try and make things happen!" Why? So I can fuck them up like I do everything else?

I've gotten to the point where I just don't care anymore. Almost to the point where I don't want things to change.

I hate sounding like a cynical, nihilistic asshole, but I just can't do this shit anymore.

Something I've recognized recently is the presence of confirmation bias. I held a mindset that people weren't interested in real relationships or deep conversations -- because I wasn't/didn't practice it either.

IMO, we're prone to a condition of external motivation in today's society. Learn to live for yourself & not to live for other people. Try something new.

Besides keeping at it, try and factor in a day off. A proper day off. Leave a note saying where you are but don't be available. You time. For you. The point of a holiday is that you're not on call. Be away from you life for a day. It might not help that much but when your mind stays on alert permanently it's like running a car on Nitro without stopping to cool off. Little interruptions are important to stop burnout, because once you're running on empty if you force yourself to keep going, that burnout becomes depression, and exhausted becomes the way your mind stays. You might already be there, so try to minimise the damage now. I also said 'plan' for it so you can leave affairs in order for a day or so, maybe in a week or a month, but do it. If you don't make R&R time, the only holiday you'll get is recovering in hospital.

As for your situation, I agree with the guy who suggested taking your life in a new direction. It starts with interrupting your existing habitual choices. As long as you don't hate the new thing you're trying, different is good as far as exposing your brain to new stimuli, making it use its neurons in new ways. Retrain it. It's by no means easy, but even slight interruptions like stirring your coffee with your other hand can be reinforcement enough that things can change. The brain is wildly intelligent in many ways, but also primitive and childish in others. Just causing a hiccup in it can make it suddenly pay attention. Whatever these keys to change are for you, find them, and use them to allow the next version of yourself to begin. Life isn't over. It's shorter than it was before, but a lot can happen in a few decades. Invite and cause something new. Not necessarily a replacement for who you are, just an addition, or a tweak. A new desktop wallpaper.

I messed up my chance with some girl a couple months ago and its been fucking with me pretty bad. It's worse since I had multiple chances that would have been so simple but I missed them. The healthy way to get past it is to wait it out. Be patient with yourself and embrace the sickness that comes with the feeling of longing. Yes, they are requiring a "vaccine passport" To enroll on classes and even to enter the campus, but i found a private university with distance learning, which is cheaper than in person, so i can afford it, and for my course, it doesn't make that much of a difference not to be in person. and it's a good enough university, with a good enough rating and "name"

You might also have an ideal opportunity to do some work on yourself now that some truths have come out into the open. You'll be less likely to succumb to biases now that a nerve has been struck. This shit is no joke. Even in my genre, you can easily spot a game where the dev stopped caring. But it doesn't come risk free, and the time I'm spending tweaking every texture coordinate or model vertex is time I would have wasted playing games I don't find fun or fulfilling anymore.

That's the key though, isn't it? Above every other consideration, it must be fun. If the game is not fun to play, it's not worth any of my 'precious' time at all.

I highly suggest you start weaning yourself off, start tapering off and give it a good 3 to 6 months, however long it takes.

Start training at a martial arts dojo - stay away from all that contract bullshit, find something that is like 50 bucks a month and isn't just trying to make money, hard but doable. Japanese martial arts was one of the greatest gifts to Western civilization - stay away from that jewish shit like crab maga or whatever the fuck it's called - that has no Spirit, it is all just about hurting people and lacks any soul (and I don't really need to point out why that should be obvious lol).
Once you get to serotonin, endorphins and dopamine firing off, you'll find that life has so much more color to it, that all these challenges you face right now are not unsurmountable.

The other night I went to a bar to get fucked up and to get a girl. There was this one girl who I talked to the whole night. She was constantly flirting and touching me. No matter how much I drank, I just couldn't bring myself to make out with her. My heart belongs to another even if that other's heart does not belong to me.
I hope I find the strength to lose my feelings for her. I have cut her out of my life and she has been incredibly respectful in the way she has handled the entire situation which is incredibly annoying. I wish i could find reason to hate her but she has only proven herself as an exceptional person. You know I could write off both my own mother and father but I can't write off this girl who never felt anything for me.
I know most people on this board hate religion, but I ask for my brothers out there to pray for me. That I will make it through this.

My personal recommendation would probably to start off with reading the New Testament gospels, starting from Matthew, and also Proverbs and Psalms which are books of wisdom and relationship with God. RSV is a good english translation. I'd say just go into it with an open mindset. God's always there and listening; treat prayer like a loving meditation with him, instead of using it to get something in return.

If I were you I would just put it out. You will never know which of your pieces gets the most traction. Most annoying, it probably won't be the best one or the one you put most effort into or your favorite. Once you have a fair bit of content you can pay a few dollars to some clickfarms to give it a little push if being ignored is what you fear most. Otherwise you just keep putting out content and keep putting out content. Consistency is key, and you probably have a 90% ready-to-release back catalog after 6 years. One per week/fortnight/month

I have been depressed for as long as I can remember now. It started with a broken heart after I felt that I didn't deserve the girlfriend I had at the time and there was lots of toxicity from myself in the relationship. Even though I am broke from spending money on cam girls for a few conversations I quit my job after 3 years of doing customer service loyalty, even though it paid decent enough I couldn't handle and bullshit. Upon quitting, I thought this might be a blessing in disguise and tried to apply for college. Already short on money the application costed me $130 just to find out I was missing qualifications. I tried winning the lottery to give myself a nice relaxing life and pay my family back for everything they've bought me that I've just taken advantage of but that won't ever work out, thanks to the odds.

Now after working 9-5 for since I was 18, I have to go back to work to find something at, or just above, minimum wage since I dropped out of school when I was younger. It just seems like whatever I do, I can't catch a break, no matter how good my intentions are.

My little sister was the victim of a murder/suicide 10 days ago. Her ex boyfriend showed up to her home when he found out she was seeing another guy and killed her, then himself.

She was 24. She left behind a 4 year old son.

I can't stop thinking about her. It's not fair, anons.

I've been depressed since my father died from cancer on the peak of the fucking pandemic, I couldn't even visit him since only my mother was allowed in the room.

I hate my job, and I hate myself, and every day I'm just a little closer to commiting suicide, the only thing that right now it's stopping me is knowing that I care too much about my mother to hurt her like this.

I feel more trapped by the day. My job has basically blacked out my calendar for PTO, and my home life is insanely busy with twin infants. As I type this, they're asleep in the bouncers by my feet. Go to work, come home, be dad, get 2-3 hours of sleep, wake up, do it again until the weekend, catch up on chores and take care of the kids, then do it again. I need a break. I want to escape for just a little while, but I can't jeopardize my job or my family's stability. I'm forgetting what it feels like to be just me, independent of my roles as employee and father, and though I love my kids and enjoy my work, the weight of the responsibility has become overwhelming. I'm married to a wonderful woman I barely get to spend time with, I play the same three games over and over without truly enjoying them, and every thing I buy that would have brought me some small pleasure feels hollow. I know I'm depressed, I know something has to give, but it can't be me or it all falls apart. I feel completely hopeless and discontent in a life that is everything I ever wanted.
