upstairs neighbor bought an excersize bike that is vibrating the whole house and my ears for 90minutes at a time.
i live in a 100year old house/apartment with roommates and we are underneath another 5roommate apartment/flat. the house has really good sound proofing as i almost never hear the neighbors upstairs, maybe i hear their dog trampling around from time to time. well i woke up at 8am one morning to loud cyclic vibrating above my bed. sounds a lot like a fridge with a bad compressor ...or a flywheel. i had to get out of bed and do my morning routine in living room. very annoyed, i searched reddit for folks with similar issues, it seems a lot of people complain about neighbors upstairs making noises with treadmills and exercise cycles as well as a lot of upstairs folks asking if its okay to buy/use treadmill/cycle and the general consensus was that its an asshole move. when the noise ended i knocked on neighbors door and told her its really loud and very bothersome, she seemed somewhat responsivell and sympathetic. i suggested returning it and buying one without a loud flywheel - she said she would just not use it first thing in the morning, i then asked if she could at least heavily pad under the machine. well its the next day and it sounds she has ass padding dulled the noise a bit but the vibration is still incredibly bothersome. any suggestions on how to proceed forward? i can try an drown out the noise with loud music but that will affect other folks in the house hold. i was thinking i could ask her to stand in my bedroom/livingroom while her roommate pedals the bike so she knows how loud it is. is it the flywheel making the noise? are there exercise bikes that dont have loud flywheels? id reallly hope i could convince her to trade it in for a different model. is anyone here educated in flywheels, house vibrations, etc? is this something i could ask my landlord to intervene with? do i have a valid complaint or do i just need to get over it?
how do i turn this image black and white? google search result for "turn photo black and white free no sign up" just gives me greyscale conversion tools and when i tried "turn photo monochrome free no sign up" the one different website output a blank black image. what do???
Back when I was a youth, we needed to engage the nervous system to fully activate the musculoskeletal system, along with the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, to create movement and get around town.
Recently i build a motorized gas bicycle that i plan to use to do uber eats. Im ignorant when it come to how i should go about storing my gas. I got 2 of those midway 2 gallon gas cans, one for pure gasoline and the other for gas mixed with oil. With my gas cans am i supposed to close the lid super tight or let it gas out? Will vapors build up inside the can and make it blow up? Because my landlord is a snob he locked the garage and isnt allowing any of his tenants to use it, will it be a problem if my gas cans are left outside with gas in them? Im a complete noob at storing gasoline and im not trying to blow my entire neighborhood up or have my fuel go stale quickly.
I guess it's finally time for new thread. what are your touring plans for 2025? cooking up some months long big adventure or just few small trips every now and then? maybe you're already on a tour or just finished one recently? I'll be going across the Europe to Santiago de Compostela, starting in April.
It disgusts me how today's so-called "cycling activists" are doing the work of the automotive lobby while thinking that they're the good guys.
Imagine if a bunch of politicians started pushing for a special residential area for a certain group, after having them habitually assaulted with weapons for many years. "We're terribly sorry about all the bloodshed but can't guarantee your safety, if you want to be safe, you have to go in this special place we designated for you".
That is what bike lanes are. We've tried "separate but equal". It doesn't work, because tyranny of the majority means a highly flexible definition of "equal".
People who have been riding bikes for many decades know what the game is. But zoomers and corona cyclists believe they know best. Instead of demanding justice, they demand segregation. Which is exactly what the automotive supremacists want.
