This was the Bicycle used by the United State military during the Second World war for support operations, the Columbia Compax Sports Traveler
>Single gear
>Step-through frame
>Wide handlebars
>You now realize the military were Cruiser-Chads
How will Gravel/MTBFags ever recover?

Are "smart cities" just a meme?

>be South Korea
>spend billions on building new "low-carbon, green" cities from scratch
>end up with sterile, car-centric hellscapes anyway
Is it even possible to build a good city from the ground up? Or are we doomed to repeat the same mistakes? This guy goes to a few of them and some look better than others. What do you guys think?

Venison burgers :(

This is my first post, be nice

>be me
>31yo single father
>Deep clean my 2001 truck interior yesterday
>previously was naaaastyyy
>Went by my folks after Mass
>Raining heavy while taking my son out of truck
>change oil waiting on rain to stop >vacuum aaaaaalll the nooks and crannies
>dad-s_shopvac.wav
>start heading out
>blew a deer's leg clean off driving home
>mfw no dent
>mfw no venison

If multiverse were real, every other version of me would've just cleaned his entire truck, in and out, just to become a venison generator.

Why do normal bikes suck so much compared to electric ones, especially in terms of price?

You can get a cool ebike that goes 50km/h with a simple twist of the hand for like 1200$ and for the same money you wouldn't even get a top-end manual bike.

It's impossible to go back after zooming through with an ebike leaving carbrains seething

This thread is for talking about railways, and things related to railways, in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - that means we're all about big intercity trains, modest rural trains, long freight trains, trips, tracks, (deep breath) trams, subways, stations, and a partridge in a pear tree~.

If you're unfamiliar with train travel, take a look at National Rail's journey planner, at nationalrail.co.uk/ - tell it where you're travelling from and to, and it'll show you a few options before handing you over to a train company so you can buy a ticket. For the same journey, they'll all charge the same price, so it doesn't matter who you buy one from. The best option for overseas visitors would be to use thetrainline.com/ - it'll support your language and payment card.

Here's a few links:
~The Man in Seat 61 (seat61.com/) - easily the best rail travel resource out there.
~A Visual History of Railway Rolling Stock in Great Britain (gaelan.me/br-stock/)
~Geoff Marshall (youtube.com/@geofftech2) - likes trains. Mostly harmless.
~Jago Hazzard (youtube.com/@jagohazzard) - London train history. Ditto.

...and some cool 'open data' stuff:
~Realtimetrains (realtimetrains.co.uk/) - live train timetables: ideal for keeping on top of ETAs and platforms.
~Openrailwaymap (openrailwaymap.org/) - not quite 'Google Maps for railway infrastructure', but close.
~TIGER (tiger.worldline.global/home/) - live station departure boards.
~Traksy (traksy.uk/live/) - live signalling information.

What's happening?
~Passenger Railway Services (Public Ownership) Bill: bills.parliament.uk/bills/3732/ - (mostly) renationalising the railway.
~Phase One of High Speed 2 (Birmingham-London): hs2.org.uk/
~Belfast Grand Central: weaverscross.co.uk/belfast-transport-hub/
~The Transpennine Route Upgrade (electrifying the Liverpool-York mainline): thetrupgrade.co.uk/
~The Midland Main Line electrification (still no website!)

I am burning up. How do I find routes that are easy, but are weather-appropiate? For example, something with a little bit of shade and near water refills during summer. In NA. I am going to melt and die. Komoot and strava just keep giving me the most lycra-adjacent, eyeroll-inducing routes. i dont wanna go 40 mph on the side of an asphalt highway cooking myself to death, im trying to enjoy myself, see some nature, not die, yknow? Any help/advice appreciated.

also never come to deep south US, it's shit. best food inna world but worst everything else.

Why are you destroying the environment with your discount bargain bin chinese carbon wheels with no warranty, when you could be saving the environment with the revolutionary new FusionFiber™ that come with a lifetime, no questions asked replacement coverage for the original owner? Sure it costs about 3x as much but think of the moral superiority it gets you

The only problem is it's made in Utah which is full of crazy people, which kinda negates the moral superiority, I'd almost rather send money directly to the CCP at that point

Also discuss wheels and stuff
