Beekeeping happens outdoors. /HIVE/

No.2814459 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
we got into beekeeping April 2023. harsh climate with amateur newbies, didn't go well. they absconded in August. we identified our mistakes & we got second queen March 2024. hive made it through winter & all is going well. we just added a honey super on top of the brood hive.
we won't collect any honey until 2026. hive health first.

top right is the new situation, as of two weeks ago.

all other three (TL, BL, BR) are our original single-tier super. we bought a new two-tier hive last month, so we can start collecting honey next year. hive is 14 months old on our farm. Italian queen. now we have a second hive box, if they swarm/split, but our primary focus is hive health. quality over quantity. we live in a harsh climate and our orchard is in its infancy.

entirely new house & farm setup, on entirely untamed, vacant land when we bought it in 2022.

Lets say I would like to climb the East Butte in Idaho. Is there a feasible way to do this that doesn't involve police trying to murder me for trespassing on INL land?

Is underwater exploration the ultimate /out/ sport? Imagine what treasures sit below the ocean surface in areas like Doggerland where ancient civilizations used to roam for thousands of years

Rockhounding Mishaps

No.2812487 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Please tell me I haven't been sleeping next to an incredibly poisonous radioactive rock [Xenotime] for months.

I love rockhounding and picked this fucker up by an old mine. I got fucking arsenic poisoning. Currently on strong ass. What do I do, Anons? Is this truly Xenotime and if yes, should I get a lead box for it asap? All signs point to this rock being the cause of my problems and it would be irresponsible to just huck it back outside where another dumbass like me might go 'ooh, weird rock what the hell is that?'

Whitewater

Any paddlers here? It’s getting to be that time of year. I got a job as a raft guide this summer and my experience is somewhat limited, so I’ll have to fake it till I make it through guide school. Tips, tricks, and advice are appreciated. It’s just a short class II river and I’d be in the middle with the big oars. Also just whitewater general

Anyone else out boiling tree blood this year? It’s been a slow run this year, and tonight is my first boil of the season.
