How does one hunt inawoods without societal equipment? (Guns, unaturally made bows and traps)

Small game, large game, it doesn't matter. Share whatever methods you have.

What I have found so far:

Barehanded deer catch

https://youtu.be/rUiPmHA7Xqg?si=-bXF1QMlDz0zLcNI

Paiute deadfall trap

https://youtu.be/89GNUnn-8KQ?si=oSQEuqaS-BdD7U8K

Spear fishing

Pick off a long branch and carve the ends to make it sharp. I've tried it myself at a creeks, I get anywhere from 5-30 minutes per white fish

Aloof, non-runner animals:

Turtle, frog, owl, hedgehog, capybara

i'll be going hiking/trekking in maine in mid-Feb so i'd like a comfy down sleeping bag with me.
considering temps can get as low as -10*F, all the various affordable 0*F bags are out of consideration.
thing is, there are only a select few of -10*F down bags that are within 400USD, other equal and lower-temp rated's jumps to 600USD++ so i don't want to make that jump yet.
>Marmot Wind River -10*F, 379USD w/ -15% coupon https://www.marmot.com/equipment/sleeping-bags/down-bags/mens-wind-river--10-sleeping-bag/AFS_195115053857.html
>Rab Ascent 1100, 399USD w/ -20% coupon https://rab.equipment/us/ascent-1100
i kind of like the Ascent more since it has a long zip on the side variant and i can use it as a blanket in warmer temps whereas the Wind River only has torso and footbox zips, but Ascent is an obsoleted model which went for as low as 230USD towards EoL a few years ago. i feel fucking conflicted and headache'd and am now contemplating getting the Wind River just to get it over with.

also, gear thread.

Lost Everything, Gona Go Die Inawoods

No.2793415 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Alrighty, I could give a gay sob story. But it doesn't matter. What matters is that I am prepared to go die innawoods. However, I want to see how long I can last there before I become worm food, as a personal challenge and nothing else. It's literally either die innawoods or shoot up a bunch of people and suicide via cop. I chose the former. I need advice in the...

A: Best places to go where park rangers wont mess with me.

B: Best places to get water, trapping, forage, etc

C: Items I should take and get acquainted with and skills I should know

I don't know much about bushcrafting, I went to SERE school back in 2015, so I know how to read maps and use a compass and some basic stuff, but I'm no pro. Again, I don't expect to make it. I'd rather die in nature than be homeless in this liberal gay pavement ape drug infested shithole city I live in, and I don't want to be another antigun statistic if I stay here and inevitably snap further and "clean up the streets".

>inb4 go kill yourself innawoods

That's literally what I am doing, just slowly.

Out/Cigars

No.2801999 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
What cigars do you enjoy when you go out?

I mostly enjoy infused cigars. On hikes I like something smaller, like an Acid Blondie. Nice half hour smoke during a rest. For camping I prefer something bigger like a Deadwood Leather Rose next to a fire with a flask of whiskey.

/out/ism awareness board

No.2800583 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I made a board where I keep patches from various /out/ locations I've visited over the years including Adirondacks in NY, Algonquin Park in Ontario, and some others. What do you guys think? Do any of you collect patches? If so, share them. I showed it to my friends and they called it my "autism board" so I now call it my /out/ism board.

What is the most money you have ever paid simply to be able to park or enter a gate to park in order to complete a hiking trail (day, not camping)?

I think the most I've paid is 30 dollars, for Shenandoah National Park. I find the concept of pay-to-hike parks fascinating yet evil.
