Does anybody else sometimes start screaming and hollering and making chimpanzee noises loud as fuck in the middle of the woods? I like to think that someone far away hears me doing it and thinks it's bigfoot.

1000m mountaineering challenge

No.2851426 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
A 1000-meter (about 3,281 feet) elevation gain is a significant and challenging feat, often referred to as a vertical kilometer in mountain running and considered a difficult hike requiring good fitness. This level of elevation can be found in specific hiking and running challenges and is considered challenging due to the steepness and effort required, although it is a standard distance for many competitive events.
Hiking and running: A 1000-meter elevation gain is a serious undertaking that requires good physical fitness and a strong ability to ascend steep terrain.
Many hiking challenges are rated as difficult or challenging when they include an elevation gain of 1000 meters.
In mountain running, a vertical kilometer race is specifically defined as a race with a 1000-meter elevation gain, usually on a course less than 5 km long.
Events can involve a significant elevation gain combined with a long distance, making it a challenging test of endurance.

Have you noticed an increase in mean mugging, cold stares, and all around dangerous people when walking around your city in the last few years? If so, why do you think that is? If not, whereabouts are you based?

This thread is a place to talk about outdoor climbing in any aspect (trad, sport, bouldering, aid, alpine, etc). Help out by sharing trip reports, photos, advice, etc.

Climbing is inherently dangerous but so are lots of things. Climb at your own risk.

Sleeping bags

No.2841533 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
What's a sleeping bag you recommend?
I slept two weeks in Norway this summer with a random 5°C sleeping bag, and it wasn't that warm.
I'm planning to go sleep on some mountains this autumn and I want to get comfortable with lower temperatures.
