Organic rdwc

No.2832906 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Hey everyone,

I'm putting the final touches on a "living" RDWC plan and would love to get this community's opinion on the specific inputs I've chosen. The goal is to feed a rich microbial colony that in turn feeds the plants, using a wide array of organic stimulants.

The System:

40-gallon Recirculating Deep Water Culture (RDWC)

System will have a chiller and high levels of aeration.

Here is the full lineup of products I plan to run in the reservoir:

Base Nutrients:

BioBizz Grow (Veg)

BioBizz Bloom (Bloom)

Microbial & Enzymatic Core:

Southern Ag GFF: Bacillus subtilis for root protection.

Nite-Out II: Nitrifying bacteria to establish the nitrogen cycle for the organic nutrients.

SLF-100: Enzymatic cleaner for biofilm, dead roots, and to help cycle nutrients.

Supplements, Boosters & Stimulants (All in Reservoir):

FloraBlend: Fermented plant and seaweed blend to feed microbes.

Floralicious+: Humic/fulvic acids, kelp, and amino acids for plant and microbe health.

Kelp4Less Extreme Blend: Soluble kelp, humic/fulvic acids, and aminos for an additional layer of biostimulation.

General Organics BioBud: Organic PK booster for the flowering phase.

Silica: For plant strength (will be added to water first).

Cal-Mag: As needed.

My Questions for the Community:

This is obviously a heavy organic stack. For those who run bioponics, what are your thoughts on using multiple complex stimulants like FloraBlend, Floralicious+, and the Kelp blend together? Is it powerful synergy, or is it overkill that might destabilize the system?

Has anyone run the BioBizz line in true RDWC? I'm particularly interested in how it behaves long-term regarding sludge and stability.

Given this specific lineup, are there any non-obvious challenges I should be prepared for beyond the usual high oxygen demand and pH swings?

Looking at this list, is there anything you think is a "must-have" that I'm missing, or anything that stands out as particularly risky?

Thank you.

Boat out of tree trunk

I'm making a boat out of an old aspen tree trunk, any tips or something. For example I'm not really sure about water proofing. Is it really that important if i want to only use the boat for one week. I already tried it in water and it kinda worked, but the water line was too high

What's some good off the beaten trail hiking spots in the south? Ideally i'd like to avoid the Great Smoky Mountains just due to summer tourists.

Controversial /Out/ Takes

No.2825404 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Post your hot take or sperg about someone else's.
Cotton linen silk and tropical wool are superior to synthetics and synthetic blends any situation where its too warm to go hypothermic if you got wet. Especially in arid climates. "Cotton kills" is true but overblown and this leads to a lot of unnecessarily miserable hikers in the summer. Sweating less and not having your sweat feel gross and clammy against your skin is better than any benefit from drying times when being wet is a non-issue.
If you dislike hiking in the summer try natural materials.

What can be done to preserve and restore our native ecosystems in North America? We’re less than a decade away from becoming just another Europe ie no natural beauty left, no old growth forest, everything being developed to hell and back.

any suggestions for /out/ in Maine?
its not that far from me and I was thinking about camping there for a couple days
Acadia seems to be the hot spot, but I looked at Nat park camp sites and they are completely booked for months.
Any low key places up there to camp?
Has anyone ever harvested sea weed? I read I can harvest 50 lbs a day, fresh sea weed is so insanely expensive and I like eating it I figured maybe I should try to get a bunch of it and stick it in a cooler.
