I use one of those wide brim straw hats women use in summer and i'm tired of pretending they aren't good or that they are gay to use on men.

I came so close to using my garmin inreach today and calling for SAR on a 5 mile trail loop. A fucking black bear charged at me and I fell down a hill which was like 10 ft tall, thankfully I managed to grab to a tree and didn't break anything, then I had to find my way out with very little navigation experience, it was fucking scary. Thank God I had the garmin insurance in case anything happened, I was so close to being in debt for the rest of my life.

What's your experience with inflatable pads for quality, nightly sleep? I'm really disappointed in my current mattress setup and have had great experiences with airbeds in the past. Are inflatable pads intended for camping all that different from an air mattress? Can they last long enough (a year+) to justify using them as a fulltime sleep device, or are they simply not made for nightly use? Please give me your wisdom /out/.

How do you cope with crowds when you're hiking alone and reach a bottleneck (campgrounds, resupply station, huts, beautiful spots of the trail) and see all the normies there with friends and families?

banff is dogshit

>be me
>go to banff with family last summer
>campsite is a bunch of fucking rocks and gravel, hard to get the tent stakes in, pretty close to others, very small, no foliage and in a crowded area
>fire ban in effect
>go to lake louise, parking lot full, barely manage to squeeze in and find a spot
>entire tourist area absolutely packed, mostly with shitskins, super crowded, reeks of shit, some dude smoking a spliff
>utterly miserable experience
>leave, go to a beach on lake minnewanka
>also crowded, almost no room to swim and youre fucking packed together on the tiniest beach ever, also the ground in the water is pretty shitty, very mud-like
>go back to campsite, sleep while you can hear everyone around your campsite talking and playing music because there's zero fucking trees or grasses between the campsites, and no stars because light pollution
>wake up the next morning, decide to go walking on some trails
>finally some relative peace and quiet, although the terrain is kind of shitty and there's fucking electric fences everywhere to keep the bears out i guess
>later go and drive to Banff (the town)
>absolutely packed place with fucking ludicrous prices, even at pizza pizza and timmies. also massive jeet and shitskin hordes.
>eventually just decide to just go driving around all of banff and the mountains around it for the rest of the day
>actually fucking nice, nobody around and you get to admire all the views from your car and take pit stops
>driving through banff is nicer than actually staying in it
>leave, never fucking go back there again
