What's some advice you can give me on getting into industrial/machinery/structure photography? I really like the aesthetic when I see it outside and want to take photos but I'm a newfag to the whole thing

Nikon lens with unique rendering

No.4417267 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
So I recently swapped from Sony to Nikon for the manual focus features and better weather sealing and I was looking for a 35mm AF lens to compliment my Voigtlander glass. I initially was looking at getting the Nikon 35mm F1.8 S but I found the images to be really flat and clinical in a way that was off putting. After reading some forums people were suggesting that the Nikon 35mm F1.4 had a much more interesting rendering and I was surprised to see that in addition to being faster it was also cheaper. The images had a lot more pop to them as well and I think the focus fall off looked nicer. I have not really found charts that useful for determining what lens I will like and usually I think digital's sharpness is a hindrance for many types of photography. I was considering getting the Nikon 105mm f2.5 but was hoping they would make a native Z mount one eventually. Are there any other lenses with unique rendering or other interesting characteristics that /p/ would recommend for Nikon Z adapted or otherwise?

For this one I've chosen a war photographer
I already feel nervous photographing strangers so I imagine it must be a crazy rush to be in the middle of a combat situation while still thinking about composition etc

Why did the tilt shift fake miniatures craze of 2009 trigger "serious photographers" so much?

The pictures looked too comfy to anger anyone but the most precious dullards.

Also, in the age of AI fakery and other shenanigans, it seemed pretty benign, but some people treated it with the same level of disdain as the recent Studio Ghibli AI images, examples like picrel were all done practically.
