somewhat basic bitch camera

No.4420647 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I went on a trip recently and was disappointed with the pics taken on my iPhone 13 (needless to say, i know nothing about cameras). Could you please recommend me a portable camera that fits some criteria:

>More megapeepees, the better.
I visit museums/galleries frequently and I want to be able to take shots from a respectful distance while still being able to read the information plaque in the final image. 12MP apparent isn't good enough.
>Be smol and light.
Every pound feels surprisingly heavy and painful when walking 5-6 hours a day sightseeing. I usually just carry water and some essentials in a small backpack when I'm out and about.
>Quick to shoot (what did i mean by this?)
Some places are extremely crowded and you only get a second or two to line up a shot. It's easy enough on a phone to pinch to the correct zoom and shoot something, but I really don't want to be fiddling with focus when there are misbehaved tourists constantly bumping into my shoulders.

Obviously cheaper is better, but my soft budget is $500 and a hard-stop at $1000. If this is an unrealistic budget given the criteria then please feel free to break it.

For any professional photographers /here/, do you pay for software or do you pirate/crack it? If you pay, how much and for what?

With smartphones getting better and better at photography, I'm wondering if point-and-shoot cameras are still worth buying. Pretty much everyone has a phone with a solid camera these days, so is there still a real advantage to carrying a dedicated compact camera?

I've been shooting lately on P mode and auto ISO and it's fantastic. I get to just solely focus on my compositions and it's great.

>okay then why didn't you post a photo
I like posting frogs. Deal with it.

Graffiti Photography

Any tips for graffiti or so called "street art" photography? Give me your harshest criticism.
I've started taking photographs only recently and I'm mainly interested in demons, usually in urban areas. Basically anything occult or disgusting. Poverty, prostitution, drug addicts, all that sort of stuff.
Other subjects such as buildings, landscapes, animals, etc, I don't find too difficult to frame although I'm still in the process of learning this new hobby.
But those graffiti ones, which I find are my favourite since the subjects are mostly being drawn by schizos and vendalists, are more difficult. They always come out dirty or messy to some degree, or maybe that's just in their nature.
I'll post some that were taken on Tel Aviv. I'm about to embark or a journey throughout Europe, where I'm told this phenomena is 20x worse than in here, and I want to be ready since my time over there is very limited.

>The new Canon PowerShot V1 has a 16-50mm equivalent ultra-wide-to-normal zoom lens with an F2.8-4.5 maximum aperture. A built-in 3EV ND filter allows it to shoot video in bright light, while its leaf shutter allows it to sync with flash all the way up to its 1/2000 sec maximum shutter speed.

>The 22MP camera is built around a Type 1.4 (18.4 x 12.3mm) sensor that's roughly the same size as a Four Thirds chip, but in the wider 3:2 aspect ratio.

Canon chads, we are so back.

Dear anons, I am looking for some mount adapters for my Canon RP. I'm thinking FD and maybe M42. There are so many offerings, ranging from very cheap to >€100. What sort of things should I be looking for when investigating an adapter?
