And I can't even remember, was it because I was a poorfag that had a small capacity SD card or was I a genuine retard, because there are a few RAW's here and there mostly of pics that I perhaps thought should be higher quality. But holy shit, looking at the photos of my long dead family members amongst the most impactful photos, that I could just send through AI denoiser and pump up the exposure some and I'd be good, instead I'm left with shitty ass jpg's with no way to go back in time.

The difference between then and now is that everyday life still looked pleasing and homogeneous enough to make for good photos. The fact that those ostensible snaps still inspire awe in us who have to exist in today's world is testament to how much of a toll contemporary society has taken on the human soul. Imagine living in those times and taking all that beauty around you for granted, nay not even that. You wouldn't even be aware of it just as the fish is ignorant of water. Take that photo today and you'd have one homeless camp, ten indistinguishable cars in black and white (no other colors) that look like those squashed dogs bred for being carried around in purses and adult men and women dressing like toddlers without an ounce of shame. I don't even need to mention the fact that digital only serves to enhance the terror rather than smooth the edges. I don't know whether I should pity or fear those who can still find the inspiration and drive to do street photography in these trying times.

The video stuff is far from "useless". Lumix cameras are made for videographers, not photographers. If video isn't your main thing, you're better served with a Sony or Nikon. But if you're doing any kind of video work, Panasonics are basically the only option (unless you can afford a cinema camera). It's the only camera brand that allows you to shoot video without a crop.

Also the autofocus isn't nearly as bad as on a Nikon Z7II.

They're probably not using anamorphic lenses then. Because you need open gate recording for that. And only Panasonic cameras have that.
