Underwater video i need help

No.4411367 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Long story short:
I build ROVs as a hobby. ( Remotely operated vehicles ). My little robots and dropcams go up to 7700ft deep in water.
Ive been working pretty hard for the past 10 years and i am at the point where i have a non-profit set up, tons of media coverage, and a small budget to build a next gen subsea camera.
I need help finding a camera or camera sensor than can fit in a 1.25 inch ( 30.5MM ) housing, [pictured]

SO, What is the best camera or camera sensor you can think of that will fit in this aluminum housing with an internal diameter of 1.25 inches or 30.5MM? It would be helpful if the output is terminated in a BNC/UCB/HDMI connection. the power for the camera will be fed from the boat via conductors and data will be transferred via SM fiber (converter in housing).

I am sick of not being able to buy a camera that can be deployed from personally owned boat with a rated depth of over 1000ft. I am building my own and all plans, drawings and code are being open sourced. at my day job I operate/pilot a work class ROV that requires a 300ft vessel and millions of dollars of equipment to explore up to 9000ft. My end goal is to create something that the average man can put together for under 2kUSD.

At the moment I am stuck at finding the best camera/sensor to use in this housing i have already had machined. I appreciate your expertise and autism 4chan. Thank you,

Guess the sensor size and lens (yes, a lens is attached to it as well).

It's very nice to have a camera that fits in any pocket.

I took a night picture on a tripod with the Cinestill 800T, but I forgot the reciprocity failure compensation rule.
I exposed for 12' f/16 ASA 400, but I forgot to do the ^1.31 which equals to around 26 seconds.
What are the odds of getting an usable picture with a 12 seconds exposure?

Poorfag here, need to take some pictures for an online store I'm starting, but the problem is my phone's camera's ass. Need something cheap that's capable of taking decent, somewhat close up pics of small objects (think things ranging in size from a bottlecap to a playing card). What's the cheapest piece of shit I can get that's still serviceable?

Talk me out of spending 3k on a Sony A7CR.
I am mainly looking for something small and easy to hold but with good low light performance to upgrade from my phone camera (iphone 15pro)

I mainly take photos of landscapes, especially mountains and rivers and I want something to capture the colors of the changing seasons without getting washed out in bright sunlight like the phone camera does, nor poor low light performance in cloudy weather and/or near dawn.

I don't especially take a lot of close-up animal photography or urban stuff, but I do sometimes capture historic architecture. But really my biggest thing is clean shots of rivers from above. I like the idea of something small and easy to hold, but with a big sensor for low light. I do take videos (of waterfalls) but not super often and don't need to take long videos. I would like to maximize my megapixel for dollar ratio.

This review says its a good camera - but there's only one SD slot (would I need two anyways? I haven't used SD cards in a long time so I don't know how many high-res photos would fit on one), he suggests this camera is for poseurs and the regular slightly bulkier A7R is fine, but I am often standing in precarious, rocky, slippery environments and I don't want something huge to lug around.

I am open to other cameras, but it seemed like most of the other options had smaller sensors, lower megapixels, or both.
