Here’s a recap of the best of my bad shots of 2024.

Film was shot on a Ricoh kr-5 with a Rikenon 50mm f 2.0 as well as a Mamiya RB67 with a Sekor 90mm.
The digital shot were made with a Canon powershot G5X.
And the phone snaps are from an iPhone 13.
What is better, posting bad photos or being a nophoto?

Thank you for the feedback, very valid points that I will keep in mind. Also I should curate more, I wanted to post a lot, but less is more I guess. Also a lot of phone shots are indeed snapshits, so the shooting with intention is on point.

As a side note, funny that some anon spams that one meme with the old guy looking at directions but when there is a thread with only photos he isn’t commenting…

You are absolutely correct about “choosing” the criticism I want to take or not, but when I said you were right it was because I had most of these thoughts while selecting and posting the thread. So it kinda was confirming the hunches I already had.
I also am aware where my photography is at and thus have no issue with critique.

You could maybe get a 5D II or III and an old 600mm f/4 for that price, but that only gets you 1080p60 and no stabilisation. One of the zooms that go to 600mm might be a better choice, you'd be raising the ISO but at least it would be stabilised and with the money saved you could get a newer body that does 4k.

I dunno, probably like 4x your budget. One of the main advantages of 4/3s is reach, it just relies on having a sharp enough lens to resolve the higher pixel density of the sensor but when you're talking about ~8mp video that of course is far less demanding.

My a7c and a7iv have survived some proper shit. Many others have as well. Sorry your a7iii wasn't up to snuff, but hey, neither are literally any fujifilm cameras.

Some weren't, which is why they're issuing a recall instead of behaving like leica, fujifilm or panasonic and just pretending the problem doesn't exist. They've improved a lot since the bad batch of a7iii shutters! Panasonic, leica and fuji STILL aren't issuing recalls for their broken shit. Canon should have issued at least one recall after the r5ii release but did not (a lot of cameras came nonfunctional straight out of the box lol)

Sony is slowly becoming the only camera company worth a damn

Sony never called anything weather proof, but the a7iv and a7rv with a g/gm or one of those new tamrons is pretty fucking close.

Good on them for finally improving their tendency to pretend shit never happened. Now if only they could introduce a toggle lock for the multi selector wheel because it changes functions on its fucking own just rubbing against your coat.
