Are there anons here who are not really photography ppl but still into film developing because the aspect of developing your film urself is fun?

I always have this issue where I don't feel an urge to take photos, as I don't have much of a creative bone, but I feel a lot of desire to make my own prints and develop film.

i don't really care for photography but like the idea of it as a way to remember or save memories
not once have i reminisced over photos taken with the phone so i bought a film camera, dev stuff, and a scanner some years back
found that not having the "instant feedback" of digital photography and actually taking the time to develop, scan, and print the shots lets me enjoy them more
supposedly could get away with printing from a digital camera too but i just dont care for it. literally exactly the same as a phone, hundreds of photos to transfer and scroll through

Hilarious seeing all these gearheads.

If you can afford nice gear you’re either good enough to, or good at something else

Every worthwhile photographer and filmmaker has nice gear
But NONE have shit gear unless it’s a DIY thing which is as far as it gets from PNS trash and iphones
Worthwhile work does not occur with worthless gear

Its a fact and its why non-artists buy nice gear. Because it DOES make their snapshits better. Non artistic photography doesnt deserve to look like trash and looking like trash doesnt make it better. Buy an x100vi and your photos will automatically improve. This is just how it works.

but that's not how condensation works
the reason water condenses out of the air is when it comes in contact with something that brings the temperature below the dew point
a camera component heating ambient air up won't make condensation on other parts at ambient temperature, because that air already has enough capacity for the amount of water in it
you'd need something colder than ambient to cause condensation, like bringing the camera outside after being in the a/c

Is the concept of always having a camera on you to photograph daily life something reserved for the rich (or unemployed)?
How are you supposed to create a body of work based on day-to-day experiences when you're in an office for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, slaving away for corporate overlords?
The only time I can see myself doing this is on a month-long holiday overseas or something.

I come home, eat, chill for half an hour and go outside for an hour or so.
I forced myself to adapt this behaviour because looking at the clock and counting down the hours before I had to go to bed again melted away my life.
Giving myself this one hour, leaving my phone at home and taking my Ricoh with me instead improved my mental health.

I work retail and I carry two cameras in my bag not including my iPhone 16 Pro Max.

I have a Sony A6100 with both a 3.5 15-60 and a 1.8 50mm prime.

I also have a Pentax 115m with a roll of Kodak UltraMax 400 for when I want to shoot film.

When I'm off work and I go out for the sole purpose of shooting photos, I carry my Leica SL2 with a 60mm Macro Elmarit R.

Most of the time I don't use them, but when I do its 100000% worth having them.

(plus I have the added possibility of someone stealing my shit and getting an upgrade for free through my insurance.)

OP here. Hooked up with a literally autistic guy who is pointing me in the right digital direction in terms of cameras.

Weird experience, the guy just spends his life working three jobs just to buy phones and cameras. I'm roughly twice his age but he is the expert in cameras and he gave me a good tip on how to mount a camera onto the telescope. He also is literally incapable of talking about anything but cameras, he has a mental issue.

I don't know if he posts here but if he doesn't i be surprised.

I'm actually glad you're making progress. On a board full of nhillistic art faggots and gearwhores, it's refreshing to see an anon follow through and update with progress. Don't take the lack of engagement itt personally, most people visit this board to talk about snoy vs nikon vs canon.

The gear-side of astronomy is a technical clusterfuck and it's easy to hemorrage tens of thousands away on scopes and mounts and whatnot on stuff that still isn't ideal for whatever it is you're trying to do.
If anything it would be nice to see future updates anon.

I see this sort of thing parroted a lot. However, I have never seen a convincing example of this, such as a photo from the “flat” zoom lens being compared to an identical photo taken with a “good microcontrast” lens. I know Yannick Khong did this, and no visible differences between the photos were actually observable. This is schizo nonsense unless convincingly proven otherwise.

While I fucking hate the buzzword bullshit this place has adopted, he's not wrong. Lower element count lenses typically produce images with better definition between colours and shades. Call it whatever the fuck you will but if the best slice of glass has 99% transmittance, and you have a 20 element lens, you've lost 18~% of your light. Colours are light frequencies, and different frequencies are reflected at different rates. That means red might look duller than a blue, and it can be noticable.
In reality your kit lenses tele zooms are not going to use glass with 99% transmittance.
I looked up a quick example and Canon's 50mm f/1.8 is a total transmittance of about 92-93% which is preeeettty good. Getting concrete numbers for any given lens is not always easy but you can bet your ass a consumer-grade telephoto is probably more like 80%.

Anyway, buzzword or not, it's a real thing.
