Can someone explain what's going on in this picture and how I can replicate it?

Everything on the table appears huge compared to the person in the chair.

What's going on?

Capture One Pro: Worth it?

No.4432531 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Doing a large outdoor shoot across 2 days with 180+ deliverable shots to a client. I've been using a mix of Adobe and other tools but it is time consuming matching batches manually.

I saw that Capture One has both smart colour grading for outdoor weddings/editorials and also slider based retouching for detected faces now. It's $333 a year subscription. I want to know if it actually works well, or is just a gimmick. Is that actually worth it for anyone who uses C1Pro here?

Photo from now. I'm laying on the hard floor of my building's external area. Here in Brazil.

Ok. What's the explanation for this form of cloud?

Accidents in Photography

Can you claim that an accidental aspect of a photograph is artistic? Does every little thing in a photo have to be intentional?

Revamping Retro Bodies as Digital

No.4436423 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I want that retro film feel that turns head without the headache of viewfinders with manual focus and development/scanning. Is refurbishing the inside with digital the way to go?

June 8 2025 - DTLA

No.4434813 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
Hello
I will be dumping photos from the DTLA Protests on June 8. If you were there and took any photos feel free to share them here too, image limit allowing. comment/critique welcome as it relates to the photos; if you want to discuss the politics of the event there's a different board on this website that starts with /p/. Most shots are on Gold 200 or Ultramax 400 through my SRT200 and a Vivitar 28-210 f/3.5-5.6; a few are from a crappy 90s minolta point and shoot and some are shot with Psychedelic Blues #5 (which is just hand-fogged Ultramax 400).

Photojournalism in Wars

Is recording the reality of war an important job? How can we talk about foreign affairs without knowing what is really happening on the ground? Can photography speak the truth in times of devastation and disinformation?

Quick! searching for a vintage lens with character

No.4436982 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I am searching for a vintage lens with character that should fit on my EF DSLR Canon body (future I plan to go Canon R5).

Now I want this vintage to stand out. Some imperfection to make my pictures interesting. At first I wanted wide angle, but I'm not sure if I am just reducing my possibilities of finding something nice. I only have till Friday to decide and would appreciate some info.

All info is pointing me towards:
>Helios 44-2 58mm f/2: Soviet-era lens with distinctive swirly bokeh.
>Asahi Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4: Sharp, radioactive (thorium) lens with warm rendering.
>Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 50mm f/2.8: High contrast and sharpness, nicknamed “Eagle’s Eye”.
>Nikkor 105mm f/2.5: Legendary portrait lens used for iconic images like “Afghan Girl”.
>Zuiko 50mm f/1.4: Compact, fast prime with smooth bokeh.
>Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 35mm f/2: Wide-angle prime with excellent sharpness.
>Contax/Yashica (C/Y)
>Yashica ML 50mm f/1.7: Affordable standard lens with balanced performance.
>Summicron-R 50mm f/2: Premium optics with sharpness and pleasing bokeh.
>Minox Color Minotar 35mm F2.8
>Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4
>Minolta 50mm f/1.4
>Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 SSC
>Helios 40 85mm f/1.5
>Jupiter 11 135mm f/4
Any experience with these? Whats your take on it?
