I have been an amateur enthusiast film photographer for a few years now.
I have been shooting with my Nikon N65 and the standard kit lens that it came with.
I am hoping to make my first big upgrade to a better lens.
I was eyeing a 35mm lens as I like to take pictures similar to pic related (it is an actual picture I took)

So.. I am thinking that after a lot of research to get the Nikon Nikkor 35mm f/2 af-d as my prime.. what do you guys think? I want to stick with 35mm as I am not too keen on the 28mm look.. any suggestions/advice/criticism is greatly appreciated.. thank you!

Offhand I'm going to guess a DSLR with the screen folded out, unless there's gearfags on the media team. If it belongs to Kirk's crew, look up his other appearances, maybe there's a clearer shot of their cameras. Since this is an ongoing investigation, anything recorded by the event organizers is probably under restriction. So all the public has available is shitty mobile phone videos from the crowd.

Picrel is not mine, but a Pentax SMC-M 35mm F1.4 that nobody has ever been able to document in the wild, but one forum posts alludes to someone holding one at one point and packaging being sold on ebay 2 decades ago. My rarest lens is probably the Fuji EBC-W Fujinon-W 35mm f1.9, nothing spectacular in terms of value, but hard to find.

For me it’s the exposure never being satisfactory. The mirror slap isnt an issue I still get sharp images as long as i dont shoot too wide. I also use the mirror up feature as much as i can

Technically not a lens on its own but it would be my 2.8E3 with only ~2000 units made, the Xenotar is pretty standard fare though. The least common interchangeable lens I own would either be the Zuiko 85/2, 180/2.8, or 500/8.

I was in same boat, bought a 5d mk2 and a 50mm 1.8 for like 200$ all in and it takes nice photos and the menus/dials etc are really easy to pick up. I will sound retarded but I was shocked that cameras really need a lot of light so if you plan on doing any night time shooting or anything in less than good light probably get a tripod. You can push the iso a bit on the 5d2 but not hugely. I also bought a $20 1990 canon slr and can use the same lense for which is nice to try out.

I would also say you can typically recoup your money on this stuff if you don’t like it, if you don’t mind dealing with eBay etc.
