>>2819224>both had extremely uneven grindsALL machetes and hatchets are like this, except high end stuff like Gransfors (where you're largely paying for the sharpening job). It's common knowledge that you need to know how to use a file to get good use out of these tools. If you can't grind your own edge with a file then you have no experience and no idea what you're talking about.
>Also, the one other "machete" I've bought so far (silky nata)99% of machetes are manufactured by Corona, Imacasa, and Tramontina, these are the designs in use by millions of agricultural laborers all over the world and constitute the prototypical machete. Go to your local hardware store and feel the edge on these tools, ALL of them have only a crude factory grind and need to be completely reprofiled by the user before any real performance can be seen.
>Tell me you've never handled an axe without telling me... I was talking about the length of the head. The further the center of gravity is from the eye, the more likely it becomes for the axe to twist in a loose grip or after a glancing blow.I'm familiar with this phenomenon and I do not have this problem with any of my tomahawks. The Pipe and Hudson Bay hawks both have substantial hammer polls. I've been using axes for over twenty years and have had nearly a hundred of them of every manufacturer and design there is.
>Do you not have a knife? Why would I use a knife when I have an axe?
>Are you carrying spare handles? No, but I can make one from a 1.25" diameter sapling very quickly if needed IF I'm carrying a tomahawk and not a hatchet. If you can't replace your handle you might end up being fucked unless you're exclusively camping half a mile from your car and that's all you care about.
