I like the fact this is a largely a white man's pursuit, and I like how everyone say Hi to each other on the trails. I ALSO hate running but turns out walking up mountains is pretty damn fire for your cardio. Skinny white people who eat healthy is what I see on the trails and I love it, pic is from New Zealand.

I think most big day hikes are 17-23km depending on the terrain but honestly as a dude with medium fitness and OP as mentioned I found about 12km good, not exactly short, can still go places, still stuff but you're not getting to that point where you're walking 8 hours and start turning into "Oh another fucking tree" "Oh more fucking rocks where are my car keys"

Hey man I feel you. I did a 3000' ascent, and the subsequent descent fucked my knees up for several days afterwards. I've come to find that I like switchbacks instead of those damn rock or railroad tie staircases you see all over the PCT, because switchbacks are more merciful on your knees.

Found a new honey hole for cyanescens and l took a handful (there was still so much left) in a paper towel which I left in the kitchen table. Recently got a pressure cooker and was making big plans of sterilizing a jar of mulch and trying to grow mycelium from the spores. Next morning I head out and remember to text my retard roommate to not throw them out. The retard threw them out already, saying he was sorry and needed to clean because he was going to have people over. I get home and the table is still a fucking mess.

A newbie in need of recommendations for a cheap tent, preferably under 250 bucks.

I've heard about tents like Lanshan 1, but I'd rather ask first some proper autists before committing to anything.
My main goals are to have something that'll last a while and withstand a storm.
Not going to camp in the winter but would be good to if it could be 4 season.

Save up for Durston X-Mid 2. If not, go with Paria Bryce 1P/2P. Lanshan needs to be waterproofed before you take it out plus a whole lot of modifications due to storm complications. If you want something that last, go for a waxed cotton canvas like the Thornhill, preferably 3x3-4x4m imo (weights a ton though). X-Mid 2 was my favorite due it's weight when I did normal hiking, but when I was homeless I went for the Thornhill Classic 3x3m. If you decide with the Paria Bryce, check out their budget sleeping bags, I used it for -25 celcius and it worked great, it's a fucking steal.

Depends what you want the tent for.
I haven't used a tent /out/ in years.
Sometimes I put a rain fly and mosquito net over a cot if i'm camping near my car/road. If I'm deeper in the woods I like a hammock. If i'm really deep I usually use a tarp, mosquito net, and rope. Otherwise for fun i'll sometimes do wilderness survival bullshit where I make my own shelter. I always tear it down after because leave no trace.
Under 250 bucks you aren't going to get high quality shit that does it all.
